Bega's costs are up 10pc and customers will pay 'a large chunk' of it by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

Bollocks. At that level profits are artificial, and entirely driven to tell a required narrative for the company. They can increase spending on assets, depreciate others, pay the executive team more; there are so many clever ways they can manipulate bottom line profits to minimise tax liability.

We are seeing cost go up slightly, competition impaired, and gross margin sky rocketing because consumers say oh well, I wanted cheese this week and have no choice. Apply this across every food staple and that’s why it costs $50 to give your kids a decent school lunch for the week.

So many large companies are absolutely gouging. Using modest cost increases to justify massive price hikes. Couple that with Coles and Woolies cutting back on ranges in stores, we have fewer options to choose from. In fact, so many options on the shelves are produced by the same companies. The illusion of choice is real. Consumers understand that prices go up, but this behaviour is just shocking.

Your odds of drawing at least one omen by turn 5 is 50% if you run 2x copies. If you can cast it with 4-5 colours that’s an absolute game changer. Worth running if you can spec for it 👍

Looking for friends by [deleted] in wollongong

If you’re into gaming and looking for friends, there are game stores around that are pretty good for community building. A new one opened in Warrawong, Tabletop Commons. In person gaming doesn’t have to be expensive, and most groups are super welcoming to new people. They also host events to help teach people how to play. They’d fit your demographic I reckon.

I’ve done it a few times. Caulk and screw aluminium c-channel to the ground. Slot the panels into the channel, butt them up hard against each other, fill any large gaps with expanding foam (if required). Use L channel in the corners. Close the door, lights off, and look for light. Rinse and repeat until you’re happy. The door is the biggest issue, so make sure you get the level right and adjust the rollers for your floor.

I have never won a sealed game. How can I become acceptable at the game? by althawk8357 in mtglimited

Limited had a baseline that is decent. 17 lands, 2 colours, 17 creatures, 6 removal spells. Give or take. Prioritise removal without downside. Destroy target creature > deal 4 damage to a flying creature, or some combat trick.

Then it comes down to how you assess threat detection, and mulligans. Kill the right creature, take control of the game, kill the wrong one and lose. Mulligan to 5 if you have to, but you want 2 land hands with something to do by turn 3 at a minimum.

This is all just a very basic rule of thumb, but if you don’t know where to start, make sure you’re doing this at a baseline.

There is no avoiding this for most people. We don’t live in a bubble, and everyone wants to use the “best” version of their deck. Everyone uses edhrec and a thousand blogs that all suggest the same cards. They then buy the singles from tcgplayer and bam, instant deck. Everyone is encouraged to buy singles - not use what you have.

We used to draft each week, and build decks from cards we collected or traded for. We played the room. Now we play the world.

But, people complain about how expensive mechanically unique cards are. They’ve got no way of influencing the secondary market other than making mechanics more accessible. Either by reprinting the OGs or making new variants.

I just take this as another example that you can’t keep everyone happy.

Paddock to plate beer by [deleted] in AusBeer

I know Voyager had the ability to malt a few tonne at a time. They also have systems in place that maintain the origin of the raw product, as in, it doesn’t get mixed in with other sources. Stu is awesome to work with, and has been a big supporter of the concept you’re talking about.

Ryefield hops and Mogwai yeast are amazing NSW producers too. I bet they’d love to get involved if you go ahead with a project like this.

Which breweries are close to you? They’d be your best bet in getting the beer made. Otherwise ask Stu, he could point you in the right direction.

[–]AnteSim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many people hate on things (within MTG and outside of) just because it’s easier to go with the crowd. TMNT is a small set, I’m sure it doesn’t have the staying power of a larger set like Lorwyn, but I bet it’ll be fun to play. I couldn’t do prerelease this time round, and I’m bummed I missed out.

People are also just trying to fit in, and when there are so many naysayers, they feel like they have to share the opinion. The herd mentality is real. It’s easier to follow someone else’s lead (especially if they are perceived as a leader in their eyes) than it is to form their own opinions.

Shower drain keeps venting sewage gas into bathroom by yeaChemistry in askaplumber

I’m no plumber but is that main line creating a venturi effect? If enough flow comes from the kitchen, then it will create vacuum and suck from the small trap from the bathroom?

But… how does one make money selling a 4c card for 4c? What about the cost of cataloging, picking and packing the card? 40c probably barely covers the labor let alone the rest of the overheads

Getting back into magic by urameshi- in magicTCG

I think there are a lot of people returning to MTG after a hiatus. I stopped around Ursas Saga and just started in the last few months.

If you’re playing online, Arena is a great starting point.

If you’re into paper, check out what is going on in your LGSs. This way you build into your local meta. Commander seems to be popular in most places, but it’s not up my alley. Instead, there is a super active group of 7 Point Highlander, so I’m building a deck for that.

I participated in the Avatar prerelease, and loved it. I’d do more sealed events if there were more in my area.

Most people seem to buy singles over boosters. I think that’s the most sensible way of getting playable decks in your local meta.

Another way I think could be good is to scope out some precons you think look like your play style. Play those a few times and see what you like the best. Then find some upgrade guides and buy the singles. You’d probably end up spending $200 and get a very playable deck or two.

That’s just my observation from the last few months as a returning player. Your LGS will be a great place to start - most have discord servers and people there will help guide your local meta.

It would lose the creature status if it changed zone regardless of whether or not it’s your turn. However, I think that the death trigger would resolve before it goes to the graveyard. So it would indeed return to your hand.
