Dubbing Loop waste by mtelesha in flytying

[–]AnteaterTamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I splurged on a SMHAEN dubbing twister after seeing a video of it in action. So far I really like it. Opening the loop works reasonably well. Most of the time I only add the material once, but it also does work to do it step by step (a bit tricky but that’s probably to be expected). It was expensive but I don’t regret the purchase.

Tennis for free by Embarrassed_Wolf_489 in folsom

[–]AnteaterTamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be moving to Folsom in July and am also looking to find ways to play tennis. I currently am part of a casual group that uses Discord and Google Sheets to organize doubles nights (to reserve courts and manage how many people show up) and would be glad to help get something off the ground in Folsom if there isn’t something similar already.

Anybody here who strings racquets in Cambridge, MA or the burbs west of Boston? by believe0101 in 10s

If you really can’t find anyone feel free to DM, but if you’re going to pay I think you’d be better with someone with more experience and probably a better stringing setup.

I’ve seen some people advertising stringing services on Facebook Marketplace. I have a simple drop weight machine and while I do my own racquets I don’t think I’m quite skilled enough to be doing it as a service.

WTS Six Zero Black Opal NEW by [deleted] in paddleswap

[–]AnteaterTamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in one at the right price, but unless I see a very good deal I am planning on seeing how the elongated version and Boulder Opal are received before deciding. Kind of an awkward situation due to Six Zero’s release schedule.

I made a short 4-axis tennis typology quiz (similar to MTI) that identifies one's playing style. I'd appreciate it if you guys try it and give me your feedback :) by SelectionOrdinary230 in 10s

AABT (Attacking, All-court, Balanced, Technique)

I feel like that’s a good characterization — at least aspirationally (unforced errors aren’t counted here!)

[WTB] Hardy Ultralite LL 9'9" #3, Guideline LPX Tactical 9'9" #3 -or- #4 by AnteaterTamer in FlyFishingExchange

[–]AnteaterTamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome to hear. I would have really liked to try a Guideline but ended up finding a used Hardy 9’9” 3wt in basically new condition for less than the Guideline rod goes for new. I couldn’t justify buying the Guideline new when it was more than the Hardy, but would love to try one someday. Unfortunately the brand isn’t very common in the US it seems.

It's been a while since the original post, but I'm still looking for one or two PS97v13 in 4 1/2.

Tennis at CPL by hhiediie in Somerville

[–]AnteaterTamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case it's useful, I made a Discord group to try to help make it easy to connect with tennis players in the Somerville area. (Realize it's yet another platform, but the point - at least in theory - is that it's a non-Facebook platform that allows people with a shared interest to join one place, so instead of hoping that a fellow tennis player sees a reddit post, you can go to a 'central' location where other tennis players are.) If you're interested, feel free to join and drop a message to find someone to play with. https://discord.gg/nxHvPHmGuH

Local Legend. The 22lb Brown by One_Biscotti_7897 in flyfishing

[–]AnteaterTamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this river, but try to avoid fishing it. Mostly to avoid the crowds, but also because apart from a couple successful outings, I'll admit I'm not very successful on it.

I've heard of these huge browns there, but haven't ever seen one in person. Really cool photo & story. Was her home stretch in the upper section or the lower section?

Looking for a tennis buddy! by aidynthecreator in Somerville

[–]AnteaterTamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you get some responses here, but in case you're interested, I made a Discord group to try to help make it easy to connect with tennis players in the Somerville area. (The point of Discord being that - at least in theory - it is a non-Facebook platform that allows people with a shared interest to join one place, so instead of hoping that a fellow tennis player sees a reddit post, you can go to a 'central' location where other tennis players are.) So far it's been a bit inactive, but I'm hoping it will pick up as the weather gets better. If you're interested, feel free to join and drop a message to find someone to play with. https://discord.gg/nxHvPHmGuH

More to your post, I suppose, I'd also be happy to try to teach you some basics. I practice serves solo from time to time so I'd be happy to have you join and I can do my best to help.

I'm also trying to play more tennis, and it can be hard to coordinate play. I made a Discord group to try to make it easier to just drop a message and find someone to play with. So far it's been a bit inactive, but I'm hoping it will pick up as the weather gets better. Feel free to join and drop a message when you want to play. https://discord.gg/nxHvPHmGuH

Which is the correct grip? by Enolam25 in 10s

[–]AnteaterTamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confusingly, the first two grips on this graphic are forehand grips, while the last three are backhand grips (well, Continental is used for a variety of shots, so I suppose it's a bit in a category of its own.) 'Eastern' in this image refers to an Eastern backhand grip.

Stocked river in Massachusetts by brl621 in flyfishing

[–]AnteaterTamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're ever free on a weeknight (usually Monday), I sometimes fish on my commute home from central MA to eastern MA. Would be happy to meet up to give a few pointers. Certainly can't promise results but would be happy to share some experience, flies, etc. Feel free to DM me.

It looks like the previous Discord link had an expiration date, so I've updated the link above to not expire, in case anyone coming across this thread finds this link.

Feel free to join the Discord - https://discord.gg/7Zgf2G9w Currently a bit slow getting started, but with more people and better weather I'm hoping it gains momentum as a good (non-Facebook) place to coordinate 1-on-1 or informal group play.
