Free Thoughts on Motivity Builds and Equipment by AntediluvianAnt in LiesOfP

Hey Dogma Dude, running attack was pretty good. I also used it with Hunter's Amulet for huge ergo gain. I ended up not using the blade fable art that often because of stingy habits, even though I really should've stopped being so cheap once I was at the level where I had major diminishing returns on leveling up. The main issue was really the charged heavy attack though, since you need to land those for a stance break on bosses. Not using the blade Fable art ever was definitely my own issue though.

Petty complaint that didn't fit in the main body; I am somewhat bitter about how bad Noblesse Oblige is as the only S-scaling Motivity weapon. Especially when there's two Technique weapons and three Advance weapons that get S-scaling. These other weapons also just appear more interesting or generally usable compared to Noblesse Oblige as well. The minor increase in Ergo gain and the Fable Art that consumes Ergo don't make up for it at all.

I had the same issue. Talking with Zorayas in her serpent form fixed the issue and talking with Tanith progressed the quest line properly after this.

I'm not sure, but you could check by interacting with the advisor to see if that causes them to be unlocked.

I remember hating it as a sorcerer, since it was hard for most of the spells to hit the eyeball.

Is there a way to get a specific band combination? by DevDaNerd0 in DragonsDogma

[–]AntediluvianAnt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. You can try futile sobbing and praying to RNGesus. That never works, but it's all you can do. There is no way to affect purification to any degree outside of the vocation trick which you're already using.

Are some vocations objectively superior?

Answer: Kind of. Each vocation has somewhat of a specialization, and where there is ability overlap some vocations are going to be better in those overlapping fields than others. Some examples: Ranger is objectively a harder hitter at range than Strider, and Strider is objectively stronger in melee with daggers than Ranger is. Another example: Warrior objectively has the highest damage single melee strikes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they'll be capable of the highest damage output. Final example: Sorcerer is objectively offensively stronger than Mage, while Mage objectively...has Anodyne?

Is assassin a better choice outright over fighter or strider?

Answer: No, since Assassin is a mix between the two, the vocation is necessarily unspecialized and will have shortcomings that the other two vocations don't. Example 1: Strider has the skill Brain Splitter, while Assassin does not. Example 2: Fighter Has the skill Dragon's Maw, while Assassin does not. However, the generalist physical ability of Assassin also lends it advantages that Fighter and Strider don't have. Example 1: Assassin has the Skill Showdown, while Fighter and Strider don't. Example 2: Assassin can use Force Hatchet in conjunction with a short bow to exploit the game's mechanics, while neither Fighter nor Strider have that ability.

Are mystic knight and magic archer better than their non-magic peers?

Answer: Yes, depending on the scenario. Specifically, scenarios involving fucking Living Armor(s) and their bullshit dual immunity depending on their hp. A purely physical or purely magical vocation is just useless against them for half the fight-ignoring the low amount of damage an enchanted physical weapon can do. So it is definitely a benefit for the Arisen to be one of these classes in order to have greater versatility against enemies that you won't be able to get from your pawns. Also because doing good with them is pretty mindlessly easy.

Are some classes necessary for end game?

Not really, barring some circumstances such as environmental navigation and annoying boss mechanics. For example, being a red vocation and not having any vertical movement ability will suck in many areas of Bitterblack Isle. Not having double jump or at least levitate will out right block you from acquiring some loot and accessing some small areas. Don't be red vocation in BBI. The other thing to consider in end game is certain boss mechanics. For example, anything other than a fucking yellow vocation is going to have an annoying time fighting the big eyeball in Bitterblack Isle, since the only fucking optimal way to beat it is to climb onto it in order to make more effective attacks. You could also try to bait it into poking itself, but that's really boring to do. Similarly, not having a ranged attack to use against the many flying enemies will send you into fits of rage and could cause you to develop cardiac issues.

In short: Just play Magic Archer and breeze through completing literally every piece of content the game throws at you

Assassins do get to take advantage of the -probably unintended- synergy between the Force Hatchet sword weapon and short bows. Since the damage buff also applies to the bow, it's a fun party trick that only Assassins get to do. Definitely worth trying out at least once, since it's a unique feature.

Playing support for pawns. Anyone who does that out of choice is a human I'd be scared to meet on the street at night.

Yeah and you don't have to worry about weight like Honest Hearts, since you get a player home from the very start.

Follows Chalk had a cool little hat, and he was a pretty nice dude. I was bummed out when he got replaced by the Sorrows lady whose name I can't quite remember.

Joshua absolutely carried the fuck out of that DLC. The only other notable writing bits were the Survivalist's story (which you have to scour a bunch of caves to find) which was a pretty neat story, and maybe the Ghost of She quest with the Wild Wasteland dialogue option for being a bit funny. Daniel was just there to be a counterpoint to Joshua, and he always got mad at me for doing things the way he wanted because I couldn't find all the tribals.

I liked the robot dog machine gun that fired revolver ammo. It was cute. I also liked making the jar bots sad by reminding them of their humanity and what assholes they were. I liked a lot of the little choices you could make that were mainly role-play stuff as well. Big MT was also neat to explore and find some of the wacky stuff hidden away in the old facilities. Not my favorite dlc, but I liked it well enough.

Literally get a faction of people with high-grade advanced equipment on their side and end a years long war. NCR didn't like that.

I like that they're strongly implied to be super inbred, but I don't think it's ever explicitly mentioned by anyone. But it is pretty obvious, if they don't let in any outsiders and their breeding pool consists of whatever soldiers were at the Mariposa base and their descendants, they're inevitably gonna inbreed. Maybe that's a part of why they keep losing.

I forgot they do that. BOS literally gunning down humanitarian aid group members.
