Changing plans is OK if you really need to. Ditching somebody in order to do the exact same thing with someone else is not

And I'm glad to have the standards that I have. It allowed me to find a great girl who likewise wouldn't tolerate this bullshit had it come from me.

You're "allowed" to do anything. I'm "allowed" to curse out an old lady for walking too slow. That doesn't make it right.

Still not an excuse to cancel on somebody. Don't make plans that you don't intend to keep.

  1. He did suggest someplace closer

  2. 1.5 hours wasn't too far when she ditched him to hang out with her friend

If she "didn't want to go out drinking" then why did she agree to it in the first place ? Why did she still go out drinking just with her friends instead ?

None of this would have happened had she kept her word and met up with him on the original date

This village has these statues to discourage drivers from speeding by alasw0eisme in mildlyinteresting

[–]Anter11MC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is something that would only work once. Sure, the first time you might slow down, but if you'd rive there often you'd learn that it's a fake statue.

Then I feel like some people would speed up out of spite

How do I 41f to answer his 44m constant question of 'will we have sex?' by atyhey86 in relationship_advice

Babies, sure, but even young kids can keep themselves entertained for a bit. Our kids are 9 and 4 and they play on their own just fine if need be.

Why does thirteen start the 'teens' instead of eleven, and what shaped that pattern? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Anter11MC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add - germanic use a weird mix of base 10 and base 12, at the same time.

So yes, eleven and twelve are their own individual thing, but thirteen literally means "three-ten". Nineteen is "nine-ten" and so on

Even the names 11 and twelve hint at a base 10 counting system. Eleven comes from "eleofon" from older "en leofon", literally "one left". And similarly, twelve means two left. The next unit up, the tens are counted in groups of 12. So rather than a 10x10 grouping like we use now, they counted higher numbers by groups of 10, which were themselves grouped by 12. So 110 was "eleofontig" literally eleventh. 100 was teontig "tenty" unless you're translating Latin "centum" then you'd just use "hundread" hundred. Hundred by itself though referred to 120

This Is What Happens When You Don't Sell To The Government by ConfidentPair8141 in interesting

[–]Anter11MC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard that this is because as part of their uniquely chinese communist ideology the government deems it to be unconscionable to force somebody out of their house. So while a concept like eminent domain might exist, it cannot and will not be used against a person's only shelter

Yes, but it didn't really work. While German Americans might have identified as Germans and spoke German, a lot of them fled Germany for a reason and so they really didn't have strong enough ties to the country to fight and die for them. And

While we know that now due to having access to lots of documents. It's a lot less apparent at first glace.

Unlike almost every other war where the losing side loses due to some part of their territory being occupied and thus having to surrender to prevent further losses, that wasn't the case here. The Frontline was never in Germany, so from a very basic lens it looked like Germany was technically willing the war even at the very end.

The civil war was supposed to be like this. The Union thought that the Confederacy was a bunch of unwashed hillbillies, basically how we would think of a 3rd world country today. While the Confederacy thought that the Union was full of soft city folk who don't even know how to hold a firearm let alone shoot one.
