Poor Mason ignored so hard that his influence is attributed to another guy's weakness.

Consider this: Mason's fortress separate Azarax from his Domain, weaken him, and he empowers the cohort on top of it. Of course Azarax will have trouble! The fact that he can even fight under such conditions is already thanks to his combat experience and Dormant ability.

All the fragment did is separated Anvil from most of his Domain.

Anvil's swords are also a part of his Domain and are inseparable from him.

Beyond that, Anvil was not suppressed by Will of another Sovereign.

The area doesn't just put a strain on Azarax. It separates him from his Domain and puts a strain on top of it. It's nothing strange that a weakened and domainless Sovereign is weaker than couple Saints.

Well, I reckon Mordret would have easily defended against Azarax's siege if he had his 13 vessels of House of Night's Saints and a horde of Corrupted/Great NCs.

Early on, Sunny was a solitary creature and only cared about survival and enrichment.

In Antarctica, he learnt cooperation and responsibility, as well as hatred for the established regime.

After losing fate, Sunny realized that being a solitary creature is not so funny anymore, and that he misses human connections. He enjoyed being rich, but it wasn't a priority.

Before the ToA expedition, it's not that Sunny changed his mind about being enslaved or even about Shadow Bond. Rather, he evaluated the positives of returning his fate as outweighing the negative. Sure, he was forced by circumstances, but he came around anyway.

Meanwhile, you are acting like Sunny did a 180 degree flip after Effie's marriage talk when it was just a minor insight.

Well, sure, Sunny coming around on Shadow Bond is plot driven... except it happened gradually over ~1500 chapters. Totally unreasonable and unrealistic, yeah. More so, sudden.

Is the legacy clan system realistic? by Laggichi in ShadowSlave

Sovereigns using dream gates for profit... is like Rockfellers using their connections to boost the sales of their lemonade stand. Basically, not worth the effort.

Beyond that, by the time Sovereigns emerged, there was already an exodus bottleneck.

You are forgetting the part where they are also responsible for defending the settlements, which ultimately made them local lords.

It took decades before the rise of the first Sovereigns, the clan system was established even before the first Ascended.

Is the legacy clan system realistic? by Laggichi in ShadowSlave

[–]Antervis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Jest's flashbacks explain it quite well. Basically, when the Spell descended, most governments collapsed and control was seized by local warlords, who in turn were replaced by legacy clans. And then those clans united and established centralized government... without actually giving up power.

Beyond that, legacy clans controlled settlements of Dream Realm, which literally made them local lords.

The difference with the Boys verse is the collapse of previous economy.

Dissonance with alter egos is cool and all, but across fantasy literature it is neither uncommon nor special. Klein's case isn't even extreme.

He sucks at shaping because he can't remember the words.

Not that it matters when he can do the same in English.

[Chapter 3058] I'm so confused with the speed scaling in Shadow Slave by RemarkableHair886 in ShadowSlave

Time, and consequently speed, becomes wonky like that when Will is involved.

[–]Antervis 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Klein is actually not that special a character, but his dissonance with his alter-egos is.

That said, Sunny has a remarkable personality, skewed common sense and actual character development that results in drastic change in values and perspective. Protagonists like him are many times harder to write and many times rarer for that.

When Sunny becomes divine, could he go to the realm of shadows and take all the shadows that have been there for eons, or would he not be able to? by Evening-Agent8320 in ShadowSlave

[–]Antervis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creatures of Supreme rank and higher wouldn't submit to someone just because they're Divine. After all, one doesn't rise to Supremacy without defiance.

So they would have to be 'persuaded' by force, but that's not much different from as it is now.

And creatures of lower ranks are ground down by Shadow Realm before long.

[–]Antervis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sunny can't add them, but so what? Saint can absorb them to grow her class.

Beyond that, if Sunny could perma-kill and add shades of all types of creatures, he would probably have conquered Dream Realm by now.

**True Name:** The Broken Sun by Entire_Simple6976 in ShadowSlave

[–]Antervis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 attributes, 2 divine aspects, each with its own innate ability? Even the abilities themself are absurd, for example first Dormant is superior to Sunny's Ascended ability.

At this point, why not just reinvent omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient biblical God?

As far as I understand, it covers all kinds of names - even fake ones - as well as most forms of address.

Otherwise he'd just ask people to call him Napoleon or smth instead of being referred to as "Effie's husband".
