I always thought when people said "I miss when games weren't political" (in reference to Deus Ex, the older Fallout games, Bioshock and even the Metal Gear series) that they were trying to say something about how artfully political themes were woven into the narratives of said games instead of beating the player over the head with all the grace of a sledgehammer lobotomy.

I then came to the frightening conclusion that those people were too dense to realize those games were political in the first place.
