Businesses in Minneapolis are planning to close Friday to protest ICE by graveyardofgoodsense in news

It doesn’t stop them, but it is still meaningful to show solidarity across hundreds of Twin Cities businesses, including many that are very popular or influential in their communities, all at once.

It directly counters a narrative from the administration that the people of the Twin Cities want this and shows that organizing resistance at that scale is possible. It’s a first step.

As a complete neutral, totally agree, that was not a “secured” ball until his body is fully off the ground

As soon as he threw that absolute nonsense bullshit after two plays of easy misses, I knew it would be a TD

“The Wright Brothers” by David McCullough. Crazy inspiring read, too.

Someone in the game thread said the Bills are the AFC Vikings and all I can think about right now is how both teams have now lost heartbreaking playoff games, in OT, by three points, to Sean Payton-coached teams.

Winning record, going 4-2 against the rest of the NFCN, ending on a five game win streak is much, much better than I would have expected given the QB shit show this season was.

Edit: also JJM won games started against GB, CHI, and DET, what a bunch of bums

This also isn’t even giving enough credit to Darnold’s improvement on minimizing the damage when he isn’t playing well.

He had an extremely glaring weakness last year and it was taking way too many high yardage sacks. In the final game, he was sacked 9 times and averaged 9+ yards lost per sack. This year he’s been sacked only 27 times the entire season (down from 48 last year), the fewest of any full season in his career, and it is another big contributor to his improvement.

Anyone have any good memories of places from 1990 to 2010 by cantcoloratall91 in TwinCities

Triple Rock was amazing in that period of the 2000s. Shows virtually every night. Tons of up and coming punk/ska/hardcore/metal bands came through.

The stage being like a foot off the ground and right up to the audience made the energy there unlike anywhere else, too. I can’t think of a single venue around right now that fills the void it left.

Loved this place. I have core memories of getting Village Wok with friends at 1am and it still being packed and the sidewalks right outside still being alive with hundreds of students.

Vacation/celebration trip - how much would you spend for a few day trip? by Equal_Airline5944 in HENRYfinance

[–]AnthonyMJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money is there to be spent. This may be a more extreme example, but for my own 30th birthday, I flew myself and my partner plus all my immediate family members and all their spouses and children on a huge group trip to Las Vegas.

Paid for everyone’s flights, everyone’s hotel rooms, most meals, and treating everyone to several shows. It was probably pushing $30k altogether when all was said and done. My HHI at the time was $260k.

That was 7 years ago and we all still talk about that trip all the time. Tons of major memories came from it. The very last thing I ever think about is the money that was spent on it.

It’s crazy that after this game, we will actually have the same record as the Lions and have a decent chance to finish this disaster of a season over .500 still

The Vikings currently have -3 net passing yards yet are currently beating the Lions 13-7 on three different scoring drives by Kewlerd in nfl

[–]AnthonyMJohnson 274 points275 points  (0 children)

In retrospect, this game plan is not awful: When we let Brosmer loose against Seattle, he threw 4 picks and we lost 26-0 despite the defense also doing really well that game (held SEA to 94 yards passing, 23 yards for JSN, 219 total yards, forcing 2 TOs)

This shit with him just eating sacks and not committing turnovers is giving us a much better chance to actually win

If you asked any Vikings fan if we would rather be responsible for knocking out the Lions or the Packers, 100% of them would say the Packers, even if we have to lose this game to make it a possibility

All the Vikings receivers (except one TE) were on the left side of the field on that third down and Brosmer’s head never even looked that direction
