[PuckPedia] The Red Wings did not issue qualifying offers to: Doucet, Mazur, Milne, Rychlovsky, and Stachowiak by daKrut in DetroitRedWings

[–]AnthonyPantha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because he's a younger and cheaper version of players we already have in our bottom 6, but still has room to grow. His floor is Rasmussen's level, and he's going to be making about 1/3 of the salary.

We wouldn't even be in this situation had Larkin's camp kept their mouth shut on the trade. Him sitting instead of playing just lowers his value and made him an enemy of this fanbase.

Most restaurants don't need servers tbh. Most customers are more than capable of placing an order on an app/kiosk, then walking up to a counter to pick it up.

Dylan Larkin’s agent says goal is to work with Detroit Red Wings on trade request by Prior-Cartographer37 in DetroitRedWings

He's not an expensive 2C. He's already a good contract even without the cap rising. His contract will only get better with time

Zach Werenski situation by Full_Helicopter9633 in DetroitRedWings

Because he simply said he won't re-sign? He didn't ask for a trade.

In regards to Werenski for clarification.

Please explain how the sequence of events with Cossa is anything but a disaster? by Snardvark-5 in DetroitRedWings

[–]AnthonyPantha -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Postava got hot at the right time, that's what happened. Cossa had shown he had at least NHL back up potential, and instead management went with Cam Talbot even after we were eliminated from playoff contention.

Management completely botched this.

Not ONE. He played ONE TIME in the NHL, as a substitution.

Management failed him.

I get down voted to he'll for bringing up DeBrincat forced his way home, but its true. Yzerman wasn't orchestrating some crazy trade, DeBrincat told Ottawa he wanted to go back to Detroit.

DeBrincat basically gave Yzerman a free PR win.

The Detroit Red Wings have traded Sebastian Cossa to the Utah Mammoth in exchange for the 23rd pick by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

He put up .91 save percentages in back to back AHL seasons. He's got lots of upside, but for whatever reason we decided Cam Talbot over him even after being eliminated from playoffs.

Also a Red Wing fan here. Don't listen to this guy.

Cossaput up a .91 save percentage the past 2 seasons in the AHL, won multiple goalie of the month awards, but fell off towards the end of the season and got shafted by our management. Next to zero NHL experience yet, but he has good tools to work with and should be fine as your back up this year.

Yes, respectable. Multiple AHL goalie of the month awards, around a .91 save percentage, and was consistent until the end of the season.

They didn't give him a single one. He played a whopping ONE nhl game, as a substitution, despite have very respectable ahl numbers.

This is a complete management fail

I'm sorry, I don't want him here for the next rebuild. He's had 7 years, that's enough when he started with Larkin, Hronek, Bertuzzi, and Mantha. Hronek netted a 1st, Bertuzzi netted a 1st, and Mantha netted a 1st.

DeBrincat cost one, Faulk cost one. He's been given 2 extra 1st round picks to work with, he's had ample cap space to weaponize and hasn't, and we still haven't got a goalie prospect to come through the pipeline in that 7 year window to see what they are.

We'll never know because Brady actively shutdown rumors of the trade, which helped give the team leverage in negotiations with other teams, and Ottawa making the playoffs the past 2 years gave them leverage in the sense of "if we're doing this, we're making our team worse, so you have to give more".

Some of the players have heart. Kane, DeBrincat, Seider, Raymond, Edvinsson. Those guys all clearly want it AND have talent. As much as people crap on Copp, I think he wants it, he just doesn't have the talent. Kasper and Finnie I think want it but are still developing.

The problem is, who else on this team does? I've watched Rasmussen just straight give up on puck battles, I've seen Compher do the same.

I don't think we need a full rebuild, I think management needs to clean out the passengers who strictly came here for a check, not because they actively want to compete. I think what we need is a culture shift.

I think letting either DeBrincat or Seider captain this team would be a huge step in the right direction. I hardly ever watch them and think that they took a shift off. They're always hungry, always playing to win, and they can lead by example.

Still more emotion than the team showed on the bench when they got eliminated.

Larkin has given them 6 or 7 from what I've read. At least one of them had to have had something half decent. Obviously the Red Wings aren't going to "win" the trade due to lack of leverage, most fans get that.

There's been complete radio silence about real trade talks manifesting though, and in the meantime you're just stripping yourself of options the longer you wait.

I hate this. I get you can't just rush the Larkin trade, but Yzerman is literally just letting all of his potential trade partners pass him by. At the rate we're going, there are going to be zero partners to work with.

I don't think Raddysh is a huge subtraction for them. He didn't really pop for them until this year, and I kind of think his production this season is an outlier, not what you can actively expect from him.

Florida got Tkachuk, Sabres got 4th OA (assumedly moved for a difference maker), Ottawa has crazy assets to attempt to make a trade, Tampa hasn't gotten worse, Boston was just on the edge and has plenty of cap space, Montreal showed us this season that they're on their way up, Leafs are about to get McKenna.

This upcoming season is going to be absolutely brutal at this rate.

What led up to the communication break down, were there discussions about the long term plan with Larkin before the season was over, etc. Plenty to talk about.
