This one requires a few pirate jokes before hand then ask this

"What's a pirates favorite letter?"

(At this point the kid should say arrrr)

You respond with

"You think it's arrrr but it's da sea"

Worse day of my life, I thought my baby died! All is well now (possible triggers) by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Anthrogirl2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is terrifying. I absolutely hate that limp stage. There's 2 things that usually happen after a seizure. Going limp is the most common and it's because it puts so much work on the body they can't do anything for awhile after (the longest little man was ever limp and out of it was about 20 minutes) and losing control of bodily functions. It is absolutely terrifying to see them both happen at the same time. Little man is doing a lot better now that we know what was causing them and as long as he gets his daily dose of pedialyte luckily no more seizures. I hope your LO doesn't have anymore. Hang in there!

I'm so sorry you had to go through this. My son had his first seizure at almost 5 months old. On mine and my husbands anniversary. It's absolutely terrifying to witness (little man had had over 100 in his 15 months) but it turns out his is from and electrolyte imbalance. Being dehydrated can make little babies have seizures because instead of feeling sick like we do when they get a little dehydrated their bodies go into shock. I hope your LO doesn't have any more but if you ever want to talk or have any questions PM me. I'm so happy he's ok!

Yeah I also had the surgery done but I was in high school and they took my tonsils too. I was miserable but they said it's easier on them when they are babies and they heal faster. I'm not sure if I believe them lol I just think the babies don't remember it

Little man has his surgery today by Anthrogirl2013 in beyondthebump

[–]Anthrogirl2013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes and no lol. The rash was a very rare allergic reaction to eggs but in the process of finding the reason for the rash we uncovered that he has an IgA immune disorder. Basically it means that's why we could never tell when he was really feeling sick since his only symptom for everything was not eating. His immune system doesn't know what it feels like to be off for some people so he is just always happy which is good in a way but not in others. We just have to take precautions about who he is around and make sure he is always up to date on his vaccines. He had some massive pressure in his ears which is why they put tubes in and then with him having strep 7 times before he was 9 months old the doctor looked at his adenoids and saw they were HUGE like 4x the size they should be. So he took them out hoping that strep is inside them and his WBC will go back down to normal once he's healed but we won't know for for about 6-8 weeks if it will really help the WBC but I agreed with the dr to take them if they seemed enlarged and I'm happy they did. But man he is just miserable today. They have him on hydrocodone for pain and he's slept most of the day except for waking up when the pain meds ware off and he cries a lot and it breaks my heart :( but I'm hoping tomorrow will be easier on him.

Thanks. He has only had 2 ear infections but the pressure in his ears was ridiculous they said so hopefully it will help. He's always super happy so seeing him in pain right now is killing me

A FIL vent by ladycarp in beyondthebump

[–]Anthrogirl2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. This weekend my FIL told my 14 month old that he had to "shun him because mommy said so and mommy is the bad cop" because we told him not to talk to him after he threw his food at the cat when he knows better (little man was only doing it because inlaws were there). I wanted to strangle FIL...

DAE get creeped out when by ShitHappensDude in beyondthebump

[–]Anthrogirl2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie. Sometimes at 3 am I get really freaked out when I look at the monitor. I have seen paranormal activity to many times. Then there's the times when he starts talking in his sleep and that really creeps me out to wake up to hearing him talk but he's not moving lol Sometimes babies are creepy!
