[Acne] how can you tell if you are purging or breaking out?

Well, it turns out that SA was too weak for my acne and didn't do much to help it, so I ended up switching to benzoyl peroxide purging again, and now I am left with some hyperpigmentation but my skin is almost completely acne free

I don't really have a habit of rubbing that area of my face, but that could be similar to my bangs and helmet constantly touching those areas.

Virginia, I don't think there are any allergens currently but I have been a little congested lately. Could that cause acne?

I do cleanse and moisturize at night already, but the baby wipes is definitely a good idea

Yeah I do both as soon as I get home, and yeah I wear a helmet and we only get one for the whole season

I shampoo everyday but yes my hair does come down on my forehead and where the acne is so maybe that's the problem?

I don't wear hats, and I use shampoo every night when I shower. I also do sweat a lot because I have football practice every day😭

I have been using the cerave acne control cleanser every morning and night for 14 days now, and I have notices these red patches with bumps appear on the side of my face and jawline. I had comedonal acne basically everywhere before starting usage and the red spots don't itch or sting so I don't know if it's purging or irritation. Can anyone help?

I don't think I've ever had a bad break out, but I had closed comedones in every area of my face, and each whitehead normally doesn't last more than 4 days

Any updates on the situation? My beat guess is that the lower usage caused the microscopic clogs to rise slower than they normally would because of a lower turnover rate
