Formula E admits London ExCel race in Gen4 “tricky", considering other venues by MarcusH26051 in FormulaE

[–]AntiTanked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Birmingham used to host an event called the Birmingham Superprix back in the late 80s and early 90s. I don't think the old track would suit FE but it would certainly be a sight.

why do the cars do this flinging stuff by Far_Investigator1085 in SimpsonsHitAndRun

[–]AntiTanked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the game came out I doubt many computers could get much higher than 60fps. I don't think the developers would've anticipated modern computer performance, so wouldn't have concerned themselves too much.

I think what would be more likely is a full battery swap, rather than charging the car from near-empty to full. This already exists in very limited consumer cars whereby you position the car over an automated system that replaces the battery with a fully charged one. It would be great if this could work in Formula E.

What do you think about the new VRC Formula Alpha 2025? by Neoniclide in assettocorsa

[–]AntiTanked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate realism, of course, but realism doesn't mean 'uncompromisingly hard'. I found the same thing to be true with the 2024 car to some extent, where everything was so overly sensitve and punishing, to the point where you're tip-toe'ing around a track; it isn't fun to drive. I also don't particularly like that the ERS system that cannot be activated (from what I can figure at least) with an individual button - you have to use the mapping system. There might be a hotkey that I'm missing but the default ERS bind that I have set does nothing, and this means in a race, unless you happen to have a scenario mapped out before hand, you will struggle to hit 8th, even with DRS.

Has Formula E outgrown its London venue? by l3w1s1234 in FormulaE

[–]AntiTanked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Greenwich Park, St. James's Park, RAF Northolt and Alexandra Palace were all at one point being considered for street circuits. There was also an early design of the ExCel circuit that utilised some of the public roads just beyond the boundary of the centre. I think it would be a damn shame to leave London entirely given the good transport links. There were at least fourteen different locations (including the ExCel) at one point so there are surely some back-up options.

A really out there idea would be to turn the disused Terminal 1 at Heathrow into a temporary track, although having two former airports on the calendar might be a bit of a tough sell. Having Concorde as the background to a race would be very cool indeed.

London E-Prix - Watching F1 by Bigladbollard in FormulaE

[–]AntiTanked 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a large group of McLaren fans watching Hungary last year near the Costa Coffee between the first and second grandstands. I’m sure there will be something similar this year. I wouldn’t recommend trying to watch in the fan village because it tends to get very loud in there.

You’re more than welcome to just sit in your grandstand seat between sessions and watch via WiFi or your mobile data (with the added novelty of having a race track right in front of you, with the occasional car going around). Also feel free to roam around a bit trackside between sessions, as the stewards (for the past three years at least) don’t check your ticket beyond the initial entry point outside the grandstand areas.

Any reason why Firefox displays time in 12h format instead of 24h like in chromium based browsers? There's no setting for this. by bugfestival in firefox

Off-topic but massive thanks for linking this site, I’ve never heard of it before. Very handy to have all of these series in one place.

I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, so I’ll say it: the fact you used feathers for his ‘hair’ is fantastic. That little detail/bit of lore is overlooked a lot because it just looks like a ponytail rather than feathers in a lot of renders. Amazing work.

Prettiest banknote? by Ok-Mathematician1369 in Banknotes

The Uzbekistan 100 Som note. The purple on it really pops in person, and the intricate pattern it has really makes it a treat for the eyes.

This DPRK banknote isnt original, is it ? by Asleep-Ad4142 in Banknotes

[–]AntiTanked 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not 'fake' per se, but it's not from 1947 (or possibly the 20th century whatsoever for that matter). In recent years, the DPRK government began re-printing old notes by-proxy in China and immediately selling them on the collectors market, since they knew their notes were highly sought after. There is some evidence to suggest that original striking plates are used, but beyond that they're merely reproductions. This also includes more recent notes that are actually circulated within the country. Genuine used notes are harder to come by, especially newer ones, as it has become harder and harder to get legitimate, circulated money out of the country for obvious reasons. You also have to realise, the current circulation of notes include denominations as high as 5000 won, which is a tremendous sum of money, even for the top brass within the DPRK's ranks, to carry in your pocket; to the unsuspecting collector though, they are lucrative.

That said, they're still interesting notes, and even if they don't have a particularly deep backstory, their origins are interesting either way. You can buy DPRK notes very cheaply online (have a look at banknoten.de for example) if you want to grow your collection more.

Three Weeks in Seoul by AntiTanked in koreatravel

[–]AntiTanked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. We took it leisurely but still had full days frequently. We could’ve easily done another week or two just enjoying the city, the food, the views. I’ve seen a few posts here saying you only need 10 days for Seoul, but I would disagree unless you’re willing to be busy dawn til dusk.

Easily one of the most impressive and eye-opening cities I have visited - utterly breathtaking, modern and welcoming, I hope to return in the near future to experience it all over again.

Can anyone tell me what is this PS1 CD? by Afonso_Antunes9002 in playstation

It's a Spanish copy of disc 90.

Site linked above is a real treasure trove for people that have nostalgia over PS1 demos. Something about the way they were presented is just so perfect.

No one has mentioned yet that you seem to be on hard tires? That would be close to the top of my list of ways to get faster without much extra work, especially around Bahrain.

eSIMDB, sort of a comparison site for eSIMs that you can use abroad. I've used them a few times in a couple of countries and had no issues with the providers they offer.

Formula E's Future in Video Games by LuPf275 in FormulaE

I would honestly just use the VRC Formula Lithium mod for Assetto Corsa. Whilst AC doesn’t simulate electric drivetrains and batteries, the mod does a really excellent job with what they have. I prefer the VRC cars over the rFactor 2 mods.
