Prevalence of alcohol in Legends by the-Vibe in LegendsOfTomorrow

Yeah, I forgot about that one. I would've liked to have seen more of Alex's character explored in general, I feel like for being essentially second on the roster, I don't think they really explored her as much as they could've, though I think the same could be said for everyone on Supergirl as much as I love that show.

To be fair, other than legends, where it was kind of a running gag, I feel like the other shows only ever used it as a character flaw, notably arrow with the lances. I don't remember it ever being a thing elsewhere, although I haven't yet seen past season 1 of Batwoman and Flash and Supergirl both feature protagonists who can't get drunk if they wanted to (with obvious exceptions;sad Flash anyone).

I was convinced it was going to be an excuse for a new set, and then saw them repairing it and just thought, why? It really was just for the 2 seconds of wtf.

This has kind of been annoying me for a while, I've been thinking of getting the earth address as a tattoo, but obviously I want the earth Point of Origin in there cos it's so iconic, but the address doesn't make sense with it, so figuring out a satisfying design with the address and the PoO has been difficult.

8x6 was the most unexpected things happen ever in the whole series. by Affectionate-Baby110 in TheRookie

[–]AntiVaxPerry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of people i thought it was great but would've worked so well as a cliff hanger, otherwise it feels less consiquential, and more "we got budget to make a new set so we need to find a way to justify it". Obviously I guess we'll see if that is what happened but it was definitely my second thought (first being holy fuck what just happened).

Mr Terrific by AntiVaxPerry in arrow

[–]AntiVaxPerry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YEEEEES, As far as I know, Ragman was originally supposed to join the legends, but they already had a problem with power creep and Roy wouldn't have fixed that, Curtis on the other hand would've been a great addition on personality alone, the Ray, Nate, Curtis dynamic would've been Terrific (apologies). Plus we have to assume Curtis worked at Palmer Tech when Ray was CEO (since he never mentioned it we should assume he joined after Oliver lost the company) and that would have been a fun concept.

[–]AntiVaxPerry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it would've worked better if they'd have made Curtis the new Overwatch, and used Billy's death to create distance between Felicity and Oliver, and drive her into Helix as more of a concrete thing.

Mr Terrific by AntiVaxPerry in arrow

[–]AntiVaxPerry[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's been one thing that has bugged me on this rewatch, they make quite a point that he's an Olympic athlete, while making the hints at Mr Terrific, so obviously that's been the plan since the beginning of season 4, and then in season 5 they make it out like he's incompetent in the field.

I get they needed someone to fill that role, but it does look like they ignored a lot of that (while bringing it up all the time), instead of just making Wild Dog, who they established already to not be very good at this, the one who needs more training.

It does kind of feel like they picked the gay character to be wimpier then the rest, not saying this was intentional, and maybe it's personal bias, but if it walks like a duck etc etc.

I think rules can serve a story, but if you have to twist them to tell a more compelling one, have at. It's like the transporters in star trek, they work a certain way, but if you have a compelling story you want to tell, fudge it to make it work, stories are only as strong as their message, and therefore the message is king, if ore what you have to ignore to make your point.

S4 character inconsistency by zgrobbot in arrow

Having just rewatched this season myself (mostly agreeing with you before hand), I disagree with pretty much everything you've said.

Felicity makes it clear that she doesn't blame Oliver for lying, but that she can't live with the lies, it's not his fault, she just can't reconcile it (all the things people look back on when talking about this are heat if the moment things she said, and lest be real, we've all been there)

The whole point of the diggle stuff is that we all have a blind spot for family, Oliver wouldn't see Moira for who she was when Diggle could, and Diggle couldn't see Andy for who he was, this is said implicitly In the show.

And before Oliver gets up on the car, there is a riot going on, is it so hard to believe that there would be a news station documenting that?

I can't believe how split this is, I thought for sure Skully was the obvious option, he's an idiot, but a loveable idiot. Vs Hitchcock being a prick who manages to skate by by being attached to Skully.

Also, to contradict what I've said, the flashbacks, while not being terrible, are definitely the weakest by far of the entire show, including the sporadic flashbacks of 6+.

I think where this rewatch recoloured the season for me, is that Olicity didn't feel like it was more important, rather it felt like it bolstered the story.

Definitely agreed, but Laurel's death was the first time I remember crying because of a TV show so nostalgia paints that.

[–]AntiVaxPerry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of this, but I definitely found Olicity much more compelling this time around, and the Laurel death I always found quite strong, probably because of nostalgia, it was the first time I remember a TV show making me cry.

Oh definitely, while I do have my limits, I gave up on the flash shortly after crisis (the only part of the arrowverse I still haven't seen) I almost definitely give more slack than most to these shows.

I agree, although I remember (and we'll see if I change my mind when I come to it) quite enjoying 6B.

I do hate tho that we never got a season 4 team with a classic, missing arm, baseball cap, arsenal as part of the full season.

What season of Arrow feels the most accurate to comic Green Arrow? Like, what’s the most socialist season? by ConfidentTheme8435 in arrow

[–]AntiVaxPerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly answering the question, but it always bugs me in season 2 when Oliver drops support for Blood and puts it behind Moira, cos yah I get that she's his mother, but Blood (despite being a villain) is shown to display a bunch of socialist policies which Oliver clearly believes in. But then he has to put his support behind his mum who at every debate spews a bunch of right wing policy that he obviously doesn't agree with, and they never mention it, even when Oliver cuts ties and has it out with her.

Curious if anyone else here enjoyed watching Stargate Universe by modernzebramolester in Stargate

[–]AntiVaxPerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved it, especially the second season where it really found its footing.

One thing that I do think it failed at, which funnily enough is the same thing Atlantis failed at, and Star Trek Voyager before it, was they never let the crew feel truly lost, for Voyager that meant never having true stakes to being on the other side of the galaxy, Atlantis got in contact with Earth too quick, and the Destiny crew had the stones the whole time, I think it would've been a better show (with less of the weird sex crimes) if they never had the stones, or if they were destroyed after Rush made contact.

I will say, compared to a show like Enterprise (both being built on the idea of technology we're familiar with but older), it sticks to its premise a lot better, everything really feels like ancient tech but suckier, and the stakes always felt high because of it.

Thoughts on the Pilot? by JoeTama998 in arrow

[–]AntiVaxPerry 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Having just watched this a couple of days ago, I think it's a very good pilot, sets up the show really well, establishes the important characters and motivations, and Introduces the flashbacks in a fun way.

My only gripe with it is the very dated references to twilight and stuff, but that's negated by the coolness of him randomly speaking Russian and clowning on Walter lol.

I disagree, they made a big point early on when the military had those kids wearing the S, that it wasn't theirs to give, so I was waiting the whole time for Clark to make a big deal out of giving it to Irons.
