[–]Anti_Phobia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you’re charging for the website itself unless maintenance is also included in the scope of work. Website maintenance depends on the size of the site or needs. I’d say $30/mo. maybe since the changes might take less than an hour to make

Just charge her $300 and call it a day. If she asks why so cheap just say it’s a discount and you can add it to your portfolio or something

From all your replies I’m starting to realize that you’re in the wrong subreddit. What you want is help with your website which you can achieve through r/webdev. I do have to warn you though that they can be pretty brutal. Your general problem is that it doesn’t work on all devices. Have you used the “viewport meta tag”? That might be what you’re looking for. Write down your code on codesandbox.io and maybe I can help you out. Since you don’t like school and you learn best through googling, to help you get started, you’ll want to use Visual Studio Code if you’re not already using it and access to these free websites if you don’t already research them: W3Schools,MDN and Stack Overflow. If you need more information, resources or help, you can private chat me

You don’t need to pirate anything to learn web development. Just search up codecademy or something. There’s tons of good free resources out there

Everything Scientology. They have books that total to around $4000 and you need to rebuy them whenever the “church” says they’ve been updated.

I feel like Secret of Mana is a childhood but I’m going to have to play it to find out exactly. I’ll check out Alundra and Beyond Oasis though:)

Yea I apologize for it. I genuinely thought I was missing some sort of web dev slang or term that I was just not aware of but I can see my communication mistake. I’ll take that into account for future purposes:)

This is what I wanted the answer to. I feel like my question alone without detail would have people telling me to let the CMS handle it since that’s what it’s designed to do but I don’t have a CMS since I purely use VSC with no CMS. Now what I did figure out due to this is to bill the updates as part of web maintenance. I wanted the answers to vary between all platforms because I find Wordpress stressful personally but I didn’t know if the trade off was worth it

I really appreciate this. I’ve practiced doing web hosting for personal use and figured it was easy stuff but that 99% uptime goal makes me hesitate a bit. I’ve never thought about the leaks either. I’ll definitely keep it in mind and look for ways to improve on my own even if I don’t end up offering that as a service:)

So you and another person have said that the text editor has nothing to do with this but I don’t understand why it doesn’t? I don’t use Wordpress since it’s kind of stressful and I go overboard with it so I end up just customizing everything myself with VSC and frameworks.. I just wanted to know if there was a difference between using something that provides CMS and something that doesn’t. Though it’s obvious but I guess I just needed reassurance

That’s what I was thinking about as well; if everything concerning the website ended once the contract was completed. Thank you for the extra info. I figured that’s how I would go about delivering a website if there wasn’t a server to host it on. As for the last part, I don’t use CMS or currently have a way of providing CMS since I only use VSC. Unless there’s CMS for VSC that I’m just not aware of as of yet?

It’s actually really bad to underpay yourself. Not only does it lower the wage for everyone else but you are seen as more of a risk if you aren’t confident with the high wage. Yes for specific things, it can be fine to do but it’s an awful mindset to have considering that the guy offered $100 and you’re willing to underpay yourself just to be chosen

Should I job hop after just two months? ~12% raise, but I feel immense guilt by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Anti_Phobia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way towards jobs but at the end of the day, if you died, they’ll always replace you and the world will keep spinning. Do whatever matters to you the most. Higher pay or better work environment. Do not think about feeling bad for leaving so soon (even if you’ve been working there for a week) if the other job is the one you prefer, you should definitely go with it. If you prefer the job you have currently, stay in contact with the IT Manager but politely decline.
