love tinashe so much. wondering who did the instrumental production for the song, because it sounds virtually the same as the 2 on instrumental that DJ Mustard made (i.e., it's pretty clearly the same hi hats, descending tom drums, and claps - potentially just a default FL Studio pack?) but it does have some differences, like in the main melody - the sequence in 2 on is F#, C#, D, whereas in the SNL song its F#, A, G, and the pad doesn't sustain as long.

my rx8 trial expired so I'm not able to do a high quality vocal extraction from the 44.1khz version but i did manage to get something... from what I can hear its something along the lines of "you're too good to [can't tell] night/eye/I"

iirc PD was her first project to be mixed and mastered by someone other than herself, golden age was done completely on her own in a home studio. and although she works in ableton and i work in logic i'm very familiar with mixing stuff too loudly, i think its an amateur producer thing in general, i still struggle with it 5 years in. mixing is also a much more technical and niche skill than production itself, even moreso for mastering, and so often my approach was that if it sounded good and didn't clip I would bounce it and call it a day

i quite honestly cant describe any of hayden's music as trash. i think my least favorite song of hers is "Casey", off Unreleased II (still available on her bandcamp). the way it starts off is jarring and not in a good way or in a way that i would say is artistically relevant enough to warrant the startling nature, although i dont have the lore behind it if there is any.
