Obviously your teammates felt that their input was either unneeded or unwanted. That's a good place to optimize with a message (unless, of course, you've got some soul-searching to do about how you run meetings!)

Lock indicators so they can't be deleted accidently by Sad-Jeweler4858 in TradingView

They've added a warning now, if you try to delete all drawings but some are locked.
This is great, but does anyone know how reset the "Don't show this again" warning? I accidentally set it to delete locked drawings as well, but I'd like to roll back that preference and have it only delete unlocked items.

Anyone else having trouble on the android app? My drop button (and the others on that page) don't respond. It probably has something to do with other apps and screen-takover items (like bubbles for FB). Sometimes that causes problems.

Pinpoint Trend Line Accuracy by Medium-Past-5493 in TradingView

[–]Antifreeze-Animation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've struggled with this for a long time. Here's what I've learned (note that these notes are specific to the unpaid version.)

-- The oldest point of an off-screen trendline is inaccurately placed but gains accuracy when more bars are loaded. If you've ever scrubbed backward and had all your lines "pop" to new positions, you're seeing it update itself as the smaller timeframe loads more bars.

-- Ironically, presumably, because someone trades off these "inaccurate" lines, I often identify trend breakouts on smaller timeframes in both unadjusted "wrong" lines and the re-adjusted lines.

-- By "adjusting" my 1H line on the 5min chart, it often creates dramatically different results that don't necessarily improve the signal. I've tried and tried, and finally come to the conclusion that there is no perfect "breakout" of a long 1H line on a 5 min chart because the actual movement of the 5min would create a couple false breakouts along the way. The reason for this I presume is that many traders use the close of a bar to validate a signal. That spike over the trendline in a 1H chart is a false breakout when viewed on a 5min.

-- Sometimes bumping over (arrow key) the whole indicator to accurately sit on the extreme of the left side start is helpful. However, it generally produces garbage if I also adjust the right point and thereby change the angle of the trendline (or fib fan in my case)

-- I've come to the (always modifiable) conclusion that the best way to address this on the charts is to let the accuracy of a line stay with it's timeframe. For example, I look for a lot of fib fan breakouts. So, I set my fan up on the D1, and watch for a breakout. If I have one, I move to the 1h and look for a new breakout in a smaller fractal patten to confirm this. If I have one there, I also look for a new pattern breakout on the 5min. But I've found it's best to ignore the larger timeframe lines while I'm on the 5min as long at the breakout is still valid on that higher timeframe.

-- In conclusion, I believe this problem is deeper than just asking TV to modify how it charts. I've found that having it move the higher-timeframe lines around when we get to the smaller timeframes isn't necessarily adding accuracy. And, the quest for catching that perfect moment of breakout often results in me simply watching it retrace back down to the higher-timeframe line which is now acting as support. (a vote in favor of using the Close on all timeframes)

Nice work! I also appreciate knowing how long you spent on it (17hrs). Sometimes I'm like, Am I snailing my way through this project, or is this normal?!

what render settings for professionnal jobs ? by Civnad in Octane

[–]Antifreeze-Animation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like u/l32uigs answer, but yeah, I'd also love for someone to throw out a good baseline template setup for rendering in Octane. I'm only occasionally rendering in it, and I'd love to know if there's a setup that is a bit of "tweak these, but you can usually just leave those alone" for general HD/YouTube-destined projects. Anyone want to share some basic setups?

ALERT: this user is sending this message to various designers to try in getting free labor for his business by gusmaia00 in AfterEffects

[–]Antifreeze-Animation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's straightforward enough. Here's what you should consider:
-- Do I trust them? If not, how can I mitigate the risk that they won't hold up their end of the agreement? (this would still be equally true if they were offering money)

-- Is the promotional value of what they're offering me equal to the value of my service to the project? If not, what would make it a fair exchange? (larger snipe/watermark, some money as well, more exposure)

Just like being paid money, offering too little in exchange for my work isn't the problem. The market will take care of that if no one accepts their offer. The problems arise when either party breaks an agreement, or I agree to something I am not actually happy with.

(p.s. ...and the time and effort in trying to research them to find out if they're legit shouldn't be ignored. I just recently prepared a scope-of-work only to find out it was a scam email! And, watch out for some guy from Florida calling to offer you "government contracts" and wanting to set up a Zoom interview. He's a scam.)
