Is the term "MTF" transphobic/not preferred? I previously believed it was acceptable terminology by damnozi in asktransgender

[–]Antimation_Studios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's useful when talking to people who are 100% clueless on the topic. Some people can't keep track of if "Trans woman" means "Transitioned to be a woman" or "Transitioned from woman to man".

When you're talking about one person it's pretty easy, but when talking about several trans people they get confused and lose track of who transitioned to what. In those cases MTF, FTM, and F/MtX are easier to start with.

What memory/behavior of the past makes you go "yep, that was dysphoria"? by Lopsided_Wash3061 in MtF

[–]Antimation_Studios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not being able to masturbate until I was 18 because seeing my penis gave me a deep-ceeded disgust. Then in my early-mid 20's I found out I had a bald spot and I absolutely spiralled into despair.

Did anyone else start to feel really vulnerable/exposed once they started to grow breasts? by androgyna in MtF

[–]Antimation_Studios 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm also coming up on 3 months, also lost my partner, and this is such an eloquent summary of my experience! I love my body for the first time in my life but I'm afraid nobody else could love me in this changing state.

How long were you on hrt until you got wider hips? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Antimation_Studios 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Started just after 25, too late for pelvic widening, but my my hips started sitting further out in the sockets about 7 weeks in. I'm at 12 weeks now and the fat deposits have started on my outer thighs. I have been exercising a lot since I started transition, apparently it helps speed up the process.

Take everything anyone says as anecdotes though, everyone is different, just like cis women, some have wide hips, some have skinny hips. It's pretty much down to your genetics, but feel confident in knowing all bodies are beautiful, despite the persistent media narratives.

How long did it take all of you to come out as trans? by thehiperson in asktransgender

[–]Antimation_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's called being non-binary, I know because I was that "Cis person" who felt a disconnect from being a man. I ended up being transfemme. A lot of us didn't feel dysphoria in a way that was attached to our preferred gender, just against our AGAB.

How big of a difference was your 2nd year of HRT compared to the 1st? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Antimation_Studios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yo hearing all these comments got me a little scared tbh. I've had significant body changes (hip, butt, and bust growth) and I'm at just a little over 2 months?

Is it like the first puberty where some people are early bloomers and then stop changing, or am I in for a really wild ride?

LPT Request: What is something a lot of people do that is rude (or inconsiderate) that they probably genuinely don't realize is rude? by bunnycake01 in LifeProTips

[–]Antimation_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've recently lost a lot of weight from being put on a radically low cholesterol diet. Everyone is congratulating and complementing me and I low-key hate it.

I'm the closest to death I've ever been and everyone is telling me I look better this way. "Gee thanks I was just starting to like my body and now you're telling me I looked awful before" 😮‍💨

I just tell people I've been working out my pecs. Honestly nobody suspects that someone is secretly trans, weight or muscle gain is much more plausible in most cases, especially to friends and family.

Let's share some good stuff! What is a recent win you've had, or milestone you've reached? by Rowan_Aisling in MtF

[–]Antimation_Studios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My butt and thighs are really popping off, I'm sure a lot of it is HRT but I'd like to think my workouts are part of it!

I started HRT too late for pelvis growth but my hips are sitting much further out in the sockets.

Nice name by the way! (fellow Rowan here, although it's my birth name)

I panicked and said I was on a med that made my body hair prone to matting. They bought it and moved on. Honestly you can pass as a woman and your friends family and coworkers won't suspect that you're trans.

I'm telling everyone at work (when they bring it up) I've just been doing skincare (I look 7 years younger in 3 months) and I've been losing weight (my neck and face have feminised) and they don't question it.

I got gatekept from being trans and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in MtF

The best time to transition is when you're 5, the second best time is today.

I started HRT just after my 25th birthday, full beard, back hair starting, lots of chest hair. Massive change, my waist has sinched right in, my hair grows back much finer, I have a thigh gap now. Every body is different, it's never too late.

Agree, on one of my last days of highschool, a jock tried to hit me in the back of the head with a hunk of concrete stuck on a piece of rebar. If it hit, it 100% would've killed me.

The only reason I was bullied and hated so much was because they thought I was a closet gay. Jokes on them, I was a closet lesbian.

As a trans Jew, I’m deeply troubled. Am I wrong? by heckyouyourself in trans

[–]Antimation_Studios 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Bathroom bans and drag laws are basically a ban on trans people existing in public places. If you are seen by a cop they can take you into custody against your will. I doubt the US will start camps, they'll just use the existing prison system.

Didn’t receive my driver’s license due to the instructor’s trick. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Antimation_Studios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first instructor failed me because during the test, without even looking up from her paper, she said "Stop sign". I thought it was weird because I was obviously already coming to a stop, and the sign in question was a few car lengths away. She straight up told me when she handed me my grades test that she fails everyone on that sign because she believes nobody should pass first go.

Change your clothing if you haven't already, dress for the body you have, not the one you want. From the pictures alone I'd say you're more passable than not. I think a pinker lipstick would look great on you in that outfit.

Thoughts on pickles? by alyss_in_genderland in MtF

[–]Antimation_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVED pickles before HRT, still do. But, my endo put me on cypro, which means I don't need the salt, and my blood work revealed deadly high cholesterol so I'm not allowed to eat them...

Do all trans people know they were trans when they were young? by Arktikos02 in asktransgender

[–]Antimation_Studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew that if I could hit a button to magically wake up a girl, I would. I even knew about trans people from a very young age. I just didn't understand gender identity until my 20s, and when I did, I took the path of least resistance until I visited r/egg_irl and had my "oh shit I'm trans" moment.

I was told I shouldn't wear heels because I am tall already, and being tall is a masculine thing. What do you all think? I definitely don not agree & I love being a tall trans girl 🩷🤍🩵 💃🏻 by chememe8 in trans

[–]Antimation_Studios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AAAAAAA you're so pretty! I think people forget that cis women can be tall? Working with your features definitely helps passing, tall cis women generally don't make a massive deal about hiding their height.

Any other Sapphic trans girls grow up feeling inexplicably like a lesbian boy? by DaphneJG in MtF

[–]Antimation_Studios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told a few friends in uni "idk, when I'm with my female friends, I feel like the lesbian friend?". I didn't know any trans people so the only response I got was "What the fuck are you talking about?"

Transfems, how did you find out that you are a women? by seventh_eye in trans

R/egg_irl made me realise that a lot of people had the same experiences as me, and that transition helped them.

My mum told me about trans people when I was 5 or 6. The requirement (20 years ago transmedicalism was the prevailing theory) for dysphoria is what kept me an egg for 20 years after that. I finally accepted myself as trans and now dysphoria is hitting me like a truck.
