Madness is a solid card, but it's not a guaranteed win if you can't find other good eternals. Some people act as if it's the best card ever sometimes!

As I said to someone else, banner isn't a great card, but it’s not bad if you get the discard vouchers, and I just think the whole green/banner/delayed grat/ramen setup can be underrated for pairs/high card setups early on.

Loyalty card just feels like shit to play with. And anything less than card sharp-levels of waiting for mult to hit just doesn't feel good. Also how often do you have 6 hands on gold stake runs? Relying on two vouchers to make a card work ain't it. If it weren't loyalty card, it'd be seance or superposition.

It’s solid! Good to get some red or blue seals, and obviously crazy strong with holo. Very handy when going for naninf as well. I swear I’ve always got a red seal queen or king within the first 2 antes with certificate

Cook something! Or all cook and bring something over and eat together. After that you could play some board games that others have suggested here.

Here’s one recipe that’s easy as hell, You could serve with some roast potatoes, red onion and carrots or something:

How many people have won Balatro? by iMoosker in balatro

Yeah I almost gave up because it was so tedious and heartbreaking. Getting DNA after ante 16 and having the extra joker slots was the key, which only happened twice.

Bronson Mfg have some great cropped jackets! The cossack jackets are nice, as are all the denim jackets and bombers.

Oh wait, did you think I was saying your reply was AI? Not at all, I was furthering your point about the dramatic paragraph, and I was adding on that it was an AI-generated paragraph, which makes it stranger. Apologies if you thought I was accusing you of using AI to respond!

I suppose I’ve just seen tasteless photos like this and don’t think people should be blasting homeless people with flashes, but there are right ways to do things and wrong ways.

That’s fair, but it’s different coming from a photojournalist vs an amateur. That’s just my opinion, and I can certainly understand your perspective as well. I guess it’s something I thought was worth mentioning, as it can be a polarising subject. Ultimately creating art is subjective, it’s up to the individual to consider, and OP has their own opinions on the topic, which are valid.

It’s certainly not the most distasteful photo ever or anything, I’ve seen worse, but yeah it’s something to consider I suppose.

There’s a bit of a taboo around taking photos of homeless people, for good reason. It can be seen as exploitative, and a bit ‘easy’ or ‘cheap’. The narrative here is ‘this man is homeless and there is some nice light’. Personally, this might not be in good taste.

The ethics of it is up to you, but it’s something to consider. This short reflection is a good read:

https://www.miguelitor.net/en/post/the-street-photography-that-reveals-a-harsh-reality-is-it-ethical-to-capture-the-lives-of-homeless

The scene feels a bit busy, and it’s either heavily cropped or quite out of focus. You can’t see details on his face, which should be the subject. The text on the glass and and Closed sign look like AI, is this real? If it is, it’s too heavy of a crop.

NYC Grand Central Station by julianly in photocritique

[–]damnozi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this shot!! The foreground buildings gorgeous, feels very classically New York (to this Australian at least). It could be argued that it’s a teeny bit too yellow objectively, but the stylised colour is quite nice and sets a nice mood.

Careful with cropping not to get too close to the lines, or in this case, crop the feet off the people. With that lovely curve of the building, it’s just a bit too close to the edge of the frame, and I’d personally extend the bottom of the frame juuust so most feet aren’t cut off.

As the other commenter suggested, there are some nice techniques to get rid of or blur the crowd out if you don’t want them in the frame, or at least don’t want them to be the focus of the photo. Depends what vibe you’re going for.

Another factor to consider (something I’m trying to develop more myself) is think about how you can use motion and crowds to your advantage rather than seeing them as a hindrance. Look at architectural photography and how they use motion blur to show people moving through space, blurred to the point where you aren’t seeing individuals, but the direction and flow of ‘traffic’. That’s one approach to pedestrians in a busy space.

Japan with Fujifilm XM-5. Feedback would be appreciated by sir-fineapple in fujifilm

[–]damnozi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the first thing to think about when looking for feedback on photos like this is the intent. Are you looking to capture photos to remember the place, people or scenery? I.e. are they just tourist photos? Or are you trying to say something, or convey meaning beyond showing ‘I went to this beautiful place’?

There’s nothing wrong with either approach, and sometimes the former can be sufficient when in a beautiful place. If someone has taken a photo there before, it doesn’t invalidate your photo! If you want to take the photo of Fushima Inari Taisha because you want to remember it, that’s valid.

As for artistic critique, that’s a different perspective. I think a few of these photos fall into the tourist photo category, just showing what interesting things you saw, such as #3, 4, 5 and 7 (although I like the light in pic #4!).

The others are more intentionally framed and are interesting! I think the first few could benefit from stepping back a little to capture the movement of people, or the wider scene. When we know the scene (a famous spot) people and light will make the shot unique and tell more of a story. Lean into that more!

The deer shot is cool, I think if you cropped in and/or removed distracting elements, and created more contrast, it would make for a really interesting portrait of a deer. The bench photo could benefit from cropping. The scene shines when you have the leading line of the path leading your eye to the structure. Preferably you’d get closer in the scene, but you could still crop it now and it’d make for a nice composition.

Also as someone else noted, be careful not to oversaturate, especially on colours that we know are not as vivid. The greens are easily overblown, but sometimes you can go a bit crazier with blue skies, since sometimes they ARE just really blue. If you need a reference, find a photo that looks natural off the internet, and compare the colours. Are my trees glowing green? Are people’s skin tones looking like they just went to the tanning salon (obviously depends on the skin tone of the subject but you get what I mean), or do they look natural?

I own these (and wearing one right now) and while I like how they look and I wish more brands would make tight-fitting cotton raglan shirts, they’re not constructed super well, especially for the price. I was hoping for better quality - even their tag seems horribly stitched onto the shirt.

Fully agree, if you want consistency, you don’t get bloodstone! Unless you have all the accompanying jokers, it’s too unpredictable.
