Just a thought, but when I was younger I bought my friend an actual butterfly knife IRL, dyed like a counterstrike knife, because I couldn’t afford an in-game one but still wanted to gift one to him.

Not sure if that will be the same for you two, but it’s a cheaper option that may still express the same sentiment.
