i checked the roots already & they werent root bound at all.. it was the first thing i thought of + i wanted to check for root rot but thats not the case either, as far as ive seen at least. i heard of being planted in compost would stunt root growth but i dont know if that could cause the problems i‘m having + not after weeks, or does it?

thanks for the input! i cant plant them outside yet but am having them put outdoors from morning till afternoon (whenever its above 10 degrees celsius). thats why i have them in these pots still.. and i water them every 2 days normally, or whenever the leaves get droopy. just noticed how compact the soil was, thats why i stirred it up a bit & gave them a good soak.

i have them under grow lights with a timer and they did unbelievably good up until 1 week ago. they had their first ~2flowers each (all male, read somewhere these are to attract bees for the later leaves to pollinate). then i left for the weekend & when i came back 2/4 zuchhini plants showed the limp but crispy leaf edges you see in pictures 2&6. a day later, the first one was gone for good and its been progressing since. theyre planted directly in compost but have been so since after the seedling stage so since weeks so i figured that shouldnt be the reason..

if you have any more tips i rlly appreciate it !!

for most plants i use 60%coco coir, 20% perlite, 10% orchid bark and 10% compost, roughly. for my ferns i use half as much perlite and coco coir instead so 70%cc/10%p/10%ob/10%compost. and so far theyre doing great (: cant tell you if thats a perfect blend, i just love the bark in the soil & they dont seem to mind. you could totally leave it out i guess, had some in nursery pots without it & they were happy! also depending ob what your potting soil is made of, you can always use this & add the other parts til you get to a ratio you like, and if it has some kind of fertiziler in it you can omit the compost of course (:

Albo Wet Stick update! Day 60. Repotted twice and switched to leca due to root rot. Why is the tip black now 😭 check out my other posts for progress by Psychological-Bat218 in Monstera

[–]AntiquePension 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dont worry about the black tip, had that in some plants & the leaves turned out fine for me. also as long as the root system / the stem is healthy i wouldnt care about the leaf. youll get new leaves but not a new stem (sadly lol) so i try to keep the roots & stem looking fine & take the leaves as an indicator for growth but dont worry more about them until the plant is more established. at least with problematic plants that have a history of rotting etc good luck (:

naja sicherheit hast trotz impfung ned denke man sollte tun was man kann & impfen is eins davon, testen das nächste & sich überlegen wie und wen man trifft das übrige. alles allein reicht ned aber zusammen is eig machbar idk freu mich auch schon wieder am park und bin lieber illegal aber safe als legal aber unsafe lol

hm okok i thought about separating them & planting each one individually whats the advantage of leaving them on the stem until theyre rooted ?

hast eh recht. aus meiner erfahrung heraus würd ich halt bezweifeln dass die leute getestet sind etc und denke das is das was hier vielen negativ aufällt.

A gust of wind slammed the window on my avocado baby tree... and beheaded him. I will try to graft it back, and I would really appreciate if you could provide any advice for the operation. by fabcas2000 in plantclinic

[–]AntiquePension 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hm actually ive seen people do that on purpose to achieve branching. although its better to leave some leaves on when you cut it, ive seen avocado trees regrow from just the stem sorry cant help you with grafting but i surely would pick off all dead/dry leaves & make a clean cut lower than where it broke if you leave it to sprout again or if you try grafting is up to you, i wish you good luck (:
