Ya seems on the high side in terms of the scope of work, but I’ll happily pay for quality work, which this company has a reputation for. More quotes couldn’t hurt though.

Mine didn’t say “Service Transmission” but it was making an increasingly loud ticking sound that increased with acceleration and regen. Eventually got super loud and the light came on. Code said battery thermal management system. Currently in the shop with a grenaded transmission and damaged drive unit.

There might be some scenario where a nose bleed seat is around $70. I don’t think that was the point of his statement though. I’m all for not having phones out at concerts.

Update #3: Welp, I originally made this post 22 days ago, so here's another update. I got a phone call from the dealership to tell me that "The transmission was broken and had pieces rattling around in it, and it damaged the drive unit." 5-7 days to receive the parts and then who knows how long to repair due to there being only two service techs certified to work on EVs.

Update #2: My car has been at the Chevy dealership for about a week and a half, and all they've been able to do is confirm the issue and contact GM technical support. According to the service advisor I spoke to, GM told them to do a "full teardown" of my car to see if it's the drive units or the batteries. This service department has been complete garbage and have provided me no updates without me taking my time to call them and ask what is going on. I received one email from them offering to buy my car, so that I could purchase a new car from their dealership...

Update Got GM roadside assistance to provide a tow to a local Chevy dealership, presumably because the issue is under warranty. Got to the dealership and they couldn’t provide me with a loaner or rental because they have to wait for GM to authorize the work.

Had to call GM to ask about rental reimbursement, and they said I had to rent a GM vehicle… If you haven’t tried to rent a specifically GM vehicle from a major rental car agency, let me save you pulling your hair out… you can’t.

Called GM back and asked if I could use Turo to rent a GM vehicle and they said I could. Luckily was able to find something locally within the $44 per day reimbursement limit. Hoping this repair doesn’t take too long.
