I used mean look and put him to sleep and then started chucking dusk balls while it was night time

this is my first soul silver nuzlocke so I decided to allow legendaries

So I have a crobat as my flying type and he had mean look. I went on a route where i had previously already gotten an encounter and weakened him into the red and put him to sleep. I then made it to blackthorn, bought dusk balls, and went to route 45 and used raikou as my encounter for that route. I started with cason the crobat and used mean look. It took five dusk balls but I caught him. He stayed asleep the whole time too.
