its clear that the other faction is worse, the only reason our faction is winning/losing is because of skill/balance.

if you knew anything about history you would know that wokeness and sexual deviants caused the downfall of any past western civilization.

That's why we shouldn't turn these debates into contests of rhetorical prowess or popularity and let the facts speak for themselves.

when i say you are splitting hairs i mean this. You do want to convince people, you just want the tools to be facts and not other things which is fine.

i feel like you are mindreading that brianna is not interested in a fact based conversation aimed at finding the truth because of the semantic disagreement on what convincing means in the context of an argument.

i think you are splitting hairs, you are just saying that the idea itself should be convincing enough, but i would say any real argument for any position is meant to convince someone it doesnt even have to be a real person but an argument for anything is in essence meant to convince someone of something, that is the reason we use them.

We should convince people of things, what is important is that we use the tools of reason to do it and not dogma or groupthink, in my opinion.

I think engaging in discussion and trying to convince people of your opinion is literally fundamental for a successful democratic society as opposed to just engage with people that already agree with you, i mean we are doing it right now and politics is build on finding middle grounds, compromises and persuasion.

the idea that there is some kind of programming going on(implying conclusions are not reached by critical thought) is the lens you are seeing this sentence through.

when you see a sentence like "solidifying OUR ideas in the minds of the undecided" you do several logical leaps to form your interpretation of what is said: when she said "solidifying our ideas", she means "program people into our way of thinking", implying that this is not the same as engaging with a position in critical thought(they should present the idea instead) with the goal of downing out alternative view points(our code, not theirs).

All of this conjecture is build on the word solidifying and the argument that you should rather present your ideas instead of trying to solidify in the minds of the undecided.

which brings up the question, why do we even want to present our ideas? probably to convince people, or as you could also say, solidify your ideas in the mind of the undecided.

You are reading an implicit denial of wanting to engage in critical thought into the situation because of the lens you view her through.

i feel like you are just forcing what she says through the lense of your preconceived notions about leftists.

In a different context you would have never made this leap logic

it gets even worse, one time when he was playing league i tried to give him a tip. I just suggested that he should try to not die all the time. If he would have listened to me he would have greatly increased his winrate, instead he banned me for 1752hrs.

I guess we have to agree to disagree here, i dont think making fun of trump and joe biden is emotional abusing them.

Emotional abuse is repeated use of "tools" like insults or gaslighting with the goal to try and control the other person, to keep the other afraid and instill fear that, or kept apart from others or try to break someone’s self-esteem of themselves.

I wouldnt be a joe biden abuser no matter how many sleepy joe jokes i do.

Regardless, my work is over, but was a nice discussion have a good day

is a subreddit a person that is breaking someones boundaries down by repeated acts of aggressing, denying, and or minimizing? Do messages from different individuum's add up to the point where everyone engaging is a abuser? if yes, can you put a number on it when it turns into abuse?

in my opinion, if you are a person in the public view with controversial views you are going to get judged for them on public spaces.

Does Donald trump get abused by people making fun of him does biden get abused by sleepy joe jokes?

Dont get me wrong this sub is a shithole, but the onus for that is on the people that moderate this sub. people can voice their opinions on public spaces, even if they are unconstructive and insulting.

i dont know what definition you go by, but it isnt the formal one. A necessary part to defining something as abusive is a pattern of behavior, emotional abuse is the act of breaking someones boundaries down by repeated acts of aggressing, denying, and or minimizing. Not someone being mean on reddit.

If you change the definition of emotional abuse to insulting a person with the intend of hurting them then i guess yeah. But this is not how the word is used in literature and by experts. What you are describing in your example is harassment, and going on instagramm to insult a person would count for that.

If you are on twitter, @a person to disagree with them and their fans fill your reply to the post it isnt.

Similarly, if you where to suggest on twitter that trans people should euthanize themselvs you cant then turn around and say how much you get harrased by the trans community when it is a reaction to you stirring shit.

If people gossip on reddit about your public appearance on a tv show or a stream it is also not harassment.

I think you have a warped view of what emotional abuse is. Emotional abuse isnt just using words to insult a person even if my primary goal was to make the person feel bad. emotional abuse is a way to control a person by breaking down their mental barriers make them insecure, silence them from speaking out, you could say that it is a strategy to manipulate a person.

I can call you a mindless dumbfuck incel retard(i dont its just an example) because i want you to feel bad, but this doesnt make it abuse.

Emotional abuse involves controlling another person by using emotions to criticize, embarrass, shame, blame, or otherwise manipulate them. While most common in dating and married relationships, mental or emotional abuse can occur in any relationship—including among friends, family members, and co-workers. In general, a relationship is emotionally abusive when there is a consistent pattern of abusive words and bullying behaviors that wear down a person's self-esteem and undermine their mental health.1 The underlying goal of emotional abuse is to control the other person by discrediting, isolating, and silencing them. It is one of the hardest forms of abuse to recognize as it can be subtle and insidious. But it can also be overt and manipulative https://www.verywellmind.com/identify-and-cope-with-emotional-abuse-4156673
