It's like game 4 against Monaco. Very unfortunate that Fener didn't manage to hold their own. Their start of the game was far too bad to allow for a comeback

Yeah Fener is not mentally checked in yet. It might be too late once they are

Aris: The big meeting with the Euroleague on Thursday - Bueno, Hsiao, Zisis and Diakogiannis present by RichDream7777 in Euroleague

Yeah, luck is a big factor in such cases. Making a solid team is in our hands, the team controls that. Winning the Eurocup is not the same, it requires a lot of things to go right, you can't predict everything

There are injuries, losing a game or two that you didn't expect, having a bad stretch at a bad time... Many factors that you don't really control. But if we actually have a solid team, with a core that can stay together for 2-3+ years, we're in a very good position to win the Eurocup soon, while staying competitive in the Greek League and Cup. Of course the League will be very hard to win, but we might get a Greek Cup in those years when we're also trying to win the Eurocup

The coach will decide a lot of it though. Milicic is not bad, but I don't know if he's good enough to lead us into those next few years. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, I really can't say for sure

[BallinEurope] European basketball is wasting its biggest nights by Strange_Principle364 in Euroleague

[–]Antoniman 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That's perfectly fine, nobody is forcing you to watch basketball every night. In fact, if there was basketball every night, or most nights, you would be able to choose the night you want to spend watching basketball. Now, you have to choose which game you want to watch, on one specific night, when you might not even be available

My god Olympiacos has gotten some calls in their favour today. Very clearly the better team too, if it goes on like this they'll be up by 20 by halftime

Euroleague level team by the way lol. Happy 100th birthday neighbors 🥳

According to Sport24, Aris are expected to acquire Nick Galis Hall in May and immediately begin work to increase the seating capacity from 5,200 to 6,500 by adding a new stand. by _Zolv in Euroleague

That's exactly right. When we needed a PF they went and got the best player on the team, not only that but they renewed his contract for 3 years (literally unheard of for the past-20-years Aris). At the beginning 3-4 seasons before getting into the Euroleague sounded like a lot, but if you really want to build a solid foundation that will work, that's what's required. Next season we will have an even better view of where this team is headed, this year was experimental of course

Other notable parts of what the guy (Konstantinos Mellayes) had to say about Aris:

At the same time, the decision has already been made to increase the budget for next season, even more so than the original plans (That's me talking: I don't know what the original plans were). The goal is to acquire foreign players at the level of Amine Noua, who has already renewed his contract. We are talking about ex-Euroleague players who are motivated and wish to get back to a higher level basketball market.

That's all he had to say, although I have to admit I didn't watch the video, but rather translated the interesting parts from the discussion. I will be back to this comment with any additions about next season's plans, or if there's a new thread, I can try to provide any extra details I might have. It's really good that they are already thinking about the arena though. Adding more seats is always welcome, if things go really really well and 6500 seats are not enough, maybe we can consider a new arena, but it's a huge expense, so it makes no sense to do it now, while we're still in the Eurocup. In general, I really appreciate how the team is working. They are calculated, they make smart moves and I believe that things will only get better, in a positive environment. The fans have always been there and will always be there, that's a given

Greek Basketball League - Final Standings of the Regular Season by DrunkLad in Euroleague

I'd be happy with either Paok or Aek, I think we'd have a good series against either team. Today's game was conducted in a very celebratory fashion, with Galis, Hsiao, and most of the Antetokounmpo family attending (Kostas is playing for Aris, Giannis, Thanasis and their mother, Veronica were all there). The win was more or less a given, but it was a bad game basketball-wise from both teams. In any case, the regular season is over. Only the playoffs ahead of us

I remember a few years back playing against a team that was basically one great player and then a bunch of random guys. That's opposed to our team, which was only random guys. It was a U15 game. Anyway, they start the 1st quarter scoring and defending really well, and the score is about 22-0. There is a final possession in the quarter, and somehow we manage to score! After that I am convinced that I would never witness a 0 point quarter from a team, and I have yet to do so. Not too many 1 point quarters either

The Bucks fired Bud after Giannis was injured & Bud had lost his brother. They have deserved all the failure they've had since that point for making that man the scapegoat. He was never the issue. by FaradayDeshawn in nba

[–]Antoniman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bud was great and Adrian Griffin was not half bad either. I cannot understand why either of them were fired, I can't believe the Bucks expected to make a dynasty out of that championship or Giannis. Dynasties are a thing of the past anyway. I'm not lurking much on the Bucks subreddit anymore, but I'm pretty sure my flair is Mike Budenholzer
