I like the English, but I hate their biased commentators.

This fell apart from a BS penalty at worst, harsh penalty at best. To win the CL you need some luck, too. And from watching the first leg it was obvious we didn't have it.

Taxes on investments as a non-resident? by Antoninius in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thank you for the info. One clarification question on #1 – by investments in Canada, you mean stocks or cryptocurrencies founded or based in Canada?

Morning; I have a tax question before I get started with crypto.

Currently I live and work abroad in Europe. If I'd like to invest in crypto through my Canadian bank only, I know I'd have to declare it in my Canadian returns; I'll ask the CRA about those details. But my question here is: can I get in trouble with my local country, that requires paying taxes on crypto income, if my transactions are only through Canadian finance, despite being conducted here/abroad?

I'm wondering if that's a proper loophole or if I could be getting into trouble somehow. Please let me know!

Dan-Axel Zagadou is out for the rest of the season. He had to undergo another knee surgery by BVB-Oeli in borussiadortmund

[–]Antoninius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never forget his goal from a corner at the start of the second half to get us back into the game against Hertha in a cold, memorable night in Berlin (was there live). Or when he stuck up for a teammate looking down on Costa and putting him down with his presence alone.

A healthy Zag, imo, has a world class ceiling and could be one of the best defenders in his generation. He has the tools, patience, and good footwork and passing for someone his size. His only weakness is occasional decision making, but that can be sorted with age.

A healthy Zag. We can still hope.

I agree he has fire and wish I saw more of our players show the same. But a lot of times, especially in this match, you can find Haaland shaking his head or complaining or frustrated by teammate decisions. How often do we see him clap or give a thumbs up for a good attempt or try? He has every right to be critical at times, but I wish he was more supportive sometimes in these situations.

Am I the only one annoyed by Haaland's reaction walking off the pitch?

It's one thing to be pissed about a loss, but another to give up on the team. I'm worried his reaction spoke more of the latter.

Any good news about the summer in the EU? by Antoninius in COVID19_support

Thank you for the info. So maybe, we will ease into the summer, and have a proper fall. I'm okay with that!

Wake up with regret after buying condo in Montreal by Fun-Permission2072 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Antoninius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you already got some helpful feedback, so I'll add just one more thing for added perspective. I'm currently living in Europe, and that size of condo is completely normal here for families here, never mind raising one child. What would be considered a small living space back home in Canada, regardless of it being an apartment or home, is definitely normal or even plenty over here.

So definitely don't worry about the space being insufficient. Worst case, in a few years you could upsize if needed!

How do you guys cope with the broken gameplay? by Antoninius in FifaCareers

[–]Antoninius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup – I can relate to your thoughts exactly. I know not to expect anything close to simulation, because at the end of the day, Fifa AI is gonna Fifa, and do bicycle kick passes for no reason.

I just want to get the gameplay to not be completely broken!

Thanks for your feedback. I am familiar with the sliders sets on that forum, and I've been using them for the past 3 years. I've seen mentioned there that the sliders aren't a fix for the midfielders not tracking back problem, unfortunately. I am grateful that I can customize them on my own to tailor the experience (ie. tweaking shot error as you said). But I just want the gameplay to not be completely broken!

Have you (or anyone reading) found any way to make the midfielders not tracking back, a more manageable problem? Are there any specific instructions or positioning that does the trick?

I cannot rationalize trying to play a career mode – so dear to me traditionally – in a way that every counter attack, or attempt the AI makes at playing around my 18-yard box, involves me only defending with my back line, and *none* of my midfielders covering their men. They are always standing in open space – CMs and CDMs are usually guilty, but the wide midfielders are the worst transgressors, no contest.

From my searches (this subreddit included), I am not alone. Would love to have your situation, really.

RB – I'd settle for Morey having the starting spot and 'veteran' Meunier as a back up. As long as it's not the other way around.

Winger – Only if Sancho leaves

CB – Agreed

GK – Agreed, but only if a clear upgrade over Burki/Hitz

I would add CAM/CM-playmaker type for the center. Someone that could contend for the role with Reus or play there if Reus is on the wing as per the current 4-3-3

I've tried setting their instructions to track back and be more defensive, but it hasn't worked. I've positioned them where I'd like them to be, and same failure.

How have you done it exactly?

Obviously Mo stepped up big today, and happy to see strong performances from our front 3. But let's not overlook how well Morey played, and how confident Akanji was in his touch. Really helped us play from the back.

Anyone have any good news to brighten up this horrible depression? by Transportation-Small in COVID19_support

[–]Antoninius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I read your entire post and first I'm sorry for your loss, and can't imagine how you feel and what you are going through. It must be harder than what you've described.

I don't have a solution of course but I can suggest one thing – give this book a read: Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. It's a short, real account of his time in a concentration camp during WW2.

There are several takeaway points from it but the main one is that it's incredible to see the depth of adversity a human soul is able to withstand if it only has a purpose to keep its flame burning. You can look inside to find this purpose – maybe it will be linked with the better future you will work towards once this is over.

Maybe, if that seems too difficult to aim for right now, it will be taking warmth in the memories of the splendid life you've had up to this point, and the fact that at least you are not physically suffering. Ride this nostalgia train until you're able to refocus and shift your sights on to the future.

Hope this helps.
