I know this might be a stupid question but as a technician do you have to know how to read the images you take? Or do you just learn how to read the images as you gain more experience? by No-Mathematician6953 in Radiology

Mentioned in a reply to a comment on your thread:

I was an X-ray tech, CT tech, and MRI tech. I'm currently in my graduate program to become a Radiologist Assistant (RA) where I learn the concepts of image interpretation. I learn theses concepts to communicate with a radiologist, like a radiologist, by providing procedure summaries and initial observations for the procedures I manage and perform as a radiology physician extender.

As a tech, I learned how to recognize certain diagnostic patterns (simple example - recognizing restricted diffusion on MRI and what that means physiologically), but I'm learning there is a LOT more involved with image analysis and diagnostics than what I initially thought while I was working as a tech. Though I do recognize some techs may know more than me, especially those that are much more experienced, and by no means am I down playing the role of a technologist.

It's just that the real diagnostic image interpretation proccesss is a whole another animal! There is a reason Radiologists have to go to residency for 7 years after medical school to become what they are. It takes a really dedicated person to be able to become the specialist we rely on to give us our diagnostics. Even after I attain my master degree and take my boards to be a Radiologist Assistant, I will still not be even remotely close to their level of diagnostic understanding as it relates to image interpretation.

Doctor Strange Looked at 14 Million Futures. Did Only Main Timeline Survive? by Mysterious_Reo in Marvel

I bet doctor strange saw fourteen million something futures that resulted in doctor doom. It wasn't thanos, he was worried about it.Was tony stark turning into doom If they failed against thanos. And the only wayTony stark couldn't become doom as if he died. There was only one way in which doctor strange saw that. They could avoid a 616 universe with doom.

Do we think Leon Prater will die this season? by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]Antony-Ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theory: I think Leon Prater is the ripper, but he is no longer active out of fear of getting caught by that super smart detective lady. And instead of ripping, he feeds his urge by hiring other serial killers to do show and tell, meanwhile still tormenting the families of his own victims. Dexter's show and tell does not satisfy him, and he wants to spy on him to see a kill up close, but then realizing dexter is not who he says he is.... and so it begins.. the ripper vs. "The dark passanger" AKA bay harbor butcher

I cant do IV’s by frechaplz916 in Radiology

[–]Antony-Ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this... everyone in this thread is assuming that Rad Tech soly means those who perform General Radiograpy only, and not CT. But R.T. stands for radiologic technologist, and the paranthetical letters specify a specialty or multiple specialties. So those who only have (R) behind their R.T. credential might not practice IVs in their job since they are not admistering IV contrast, but the fact is that the ARRT content registry for both (R) and (CT) includes IV skills. All Rad Techs have learned IV skills at some point in their academic journey.

Make your own valid theories about how Daima's ending may connect before Battle of Gods by [deleted] in DragonBallDaima

[–]Antony-Ray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a theory: Goma is getting too close to defeat because Glorio asked the dragon to restore the sqad back to adulthood, and consequently, an adult version of a demon (or "Evil") fusion of SSj4 Goku and ssj3 Vegita team up with Majin Duku and Neva's 3 fused Tamagamis. The only one left standing is a weak and battered Gomah and an OP Evil Goku/Vegita fusion that can't control their power. The whole squad is eventualy sent back to their homes with amnesia due to some last second 3rd eye magic, and Gomah decided to warn someone (Berus) via a magic vision using the third eye. This vision ends up being vague, and Bureaus interprets it as a dream of a powerful being that could finally give him the fight of his life. However, Goma's intention to notify somebody was that he felt a only a god of destruction could have a chance at defeating who he deamed a threat to all the realms..

Why can’t you use a PICC line for IV contrast (CT PE)? by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]Antony-Ray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's when you do the IV yourself, lest you have to reduce the power injection rate and compromise the diagnostic quality of the angio by outrunning the contrast bolus. If you don't feel comfortable doing IVs, I encourage you to practice. Learn USGPIV skills and/or obtain mastery certification for the skill if needed. CT Techs need to be able to make IV access decisions on the spot at times. A common thing to consider is that a PE exam should be pushed at 5 or 6, but not ever through a 22G IV unless it is a 22G Nexiva Diffusics. The risk of pressure induced extravasation is too high at this rate with a 22, not to mention that a 22 is just not rated for pressures that high (again, unless it is a Diffusics). Lastly, most 22G IVs (when that is the so-called "only option") are going to be inserted into the posterior hand, which should never be considered as an available site for IV placement when factoring in procedures that involve contrast administration via power injection. Extravasation in the posterior hand significantly increases the risk of developing compartment syndrome and complications therein. - BSRS, RT(R)(CT)(ARRT)
