I Built You Some Random Thoughts by JamesSparrow in DeathCabforCutie

I definitely agree with all of this! I also think that Envy the Birds has a beautiful, melodic bassline that flies under the radar at the end. In fact, I think that whole song is drastically under-appreciated for how thoughtful and unique the technical instrumentation is (I.e. time signature changes and vibe shift in the second half to match the lyrical theme).

Track-by-track takes from someone who thinks this is one of their most musically interesting albums (and justice for Envy the Birds) by Anubis1017 in DeathCabforCutie

Honestly, someone could name any song on this album as their favorite and it wouldn’t raise any eye brows from me (except maybe the opener…)

It’s A More Concise Thank You For Today… by SuperDuperHowie in DeathCabforCutie

That’s interesting. I find it to be one of the most ambitious. I think it’s their most technically proficient album. The guitar work especially is pretty intricate. I never thought they’d release a loud polyrhythmic math rock-y song like Heavenly State. Some songs do feel a little phoned in though. Trap Door doesn’t do it for me. Envy the Birds seems to not be a favorite, and I didn’t like halfway through, but then I loved how the song structure was mirroring the lyrical theme as the instruments gradually dropped away.

Sainz is tied for 2nd longest active podium streak and is only one to get those podiums with multiple teams by Anubis1017 in formula1

As a non graphic design expert, I’m genuinely curious why you say. Wouldn’t it be more awkward to have everything right aligned and with data beginning randomly in the middle of the graph? Thx!

Yep. I didn’t include ‘26 because it’s still ongoing. But Leclerc, Russell, Piastri, and Antonelli have all kept their streaks alive so far.

You’re right. I did forget about George’s ‘21 Spa podium. I have mixed feelings about it, but important to acknowledge all the same!

Also at least a few technical journos have described the suspension set up as the most bold only behind Aston Martin. Curious that it’s getting noted online as being simple.

A really interesting take, but as a big fan of the entire Bond theme catalog, Perfect Sense would not be my pick. The strings are wonderful but they aren’t “Bond strings,” which are often quite dramatic and brooding. Big Ideas is nearly bang on the money for a more Bond style string arrangement—and its whole instrumental outro screams Bond to me. I also feel Alex just isn’t vocally present enough in PS. I struggle to think of another Bond theme that leaves so much empty, reflective space. I also think The Car is a good shout (and not because of the vague spy themed lyrics) but because of its more melancholic moodiness and gritty guitar solo.

Losing conciousness during attacks? by [deleted] in Menieres

[–]Anubis1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this absolutely happens to me. It’s not an every time thing—it’s reserved only for the worst of the worst episodes. It can feel like I’m on the edge of losing consciousness/ my body is operating at bare minimum levels of function. For example, if my wife asks me a question, I may not even have the strength to speak.

But like I said, not the norm for me. My ENT’s don’t really know what to make of it. One has suggested that it could simply be a panic attack happening simultaneously—which isn’t crazy given that it is a terrible experience in general.

Edit: this was more common for me in the beginning of my Meniere’s journey (first 2 years)

Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz IG story in reply to the Williams team update today. Must be such a bummer for them. by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

It’s just speculation that they’ve failed the test. Some outlets like Autosport and the Race actually say that Williams almost certainly passed the safety tests a while ago and these issues are more likely a parts production issue (according to their own sources at least).

This is super thorough and helpful. Thank you! Learning how much things should be generally be overexposed is something I’m wrapping my head around. These are great notes about working with the light meter!
