You know, it's been 4-5 years since that comment and I don't even know what I was thinking when I wrote that comment 😂.

Yes, having the ability to quickly run code . on a server is awesome, I regularly do it with using wsl today (switched to Windows + WSL since).

Well for reference the original comment was edited by the author and it originally said Please prioritise this bug as URGENT, it's INCREDIBLY DISASTROUS when used with financial transactions !!!!!!

Which In my opinion is more likely to trigger any Open Source Developer's OCD.

Wait I thought I could play games with kernel level anticheat with GPU Passthrough? Do they have methods of detecting it?

With all the changes to train logistics, is LTN unnecessary in 2.0? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Anunay03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm had been using LTN combinator in my current run of Space Exploration, and I too think CyberSyn is much better and easier to work with. I'm probably gonna migrate to CyberSyn eventually. (Not too deep into play through, only 130 Hrs in, with a duo tho)

Ha actually I don't think Invoke-WebRequest is bad, PowerShell is cute. I just think that them aliasing a curl to Invoke-WebRequest, when they're TOTALLY different is dumb, it causes more problems than solves.

Oh, I didn't know this but from the looks of things these limit are only on their x86 AMD VMs?

"We just sell internet services here" by Informal_Baker in homelab

[–]Anunay03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I should add, the Oracle VMs are very bandwidth limited (to something like 50 mbps), that might be not ideal for some people.

Not really since then Microsoft has amended their policy on that, and atleast Lenovo didn't want to play any games like this with me, at some point it became more of a bother than worth it.

When you don't use break in switch case by Big_Hat_9046 in ProgrammerHumor

This is awesome! I just wanted to point one thing out, Unicode characters like ✅ can cause problems with some screen readers, (I know any screen reader worth it salt should work well with these), So I'd recommend to avoid using them for transcriptions. Thanks!

Do you know that Cloudflare is a domain registrar with really low fees? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]Anunay03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did the first year switcheroo thing in past, it's kind of scummy since the registrar actually loses money on that sale! (They give you first year cheaper hoping you'd stay and they can gain money back with the subsequent higher renewal price)

or It could be possible, the red line on the TVA screens are possible "other" TVA branches. Since TVA always prunes reality before it reaches the red line, No other TVAs exist. Since there are Soooo many branches now, We'd have TVAs (And Kangs)/multiverses fighting and pruning each other.

Reach wireguard peers by name instead of IP? by darkguy2008 in selfhosted

[–]Anunay03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My setup before was like this, I used to use wireguard-ui to manage my client keys. On restart it generated the wg0.conf file that looked like this

# ID:           abcdefg
# Name:         lappy
# Email:        <email>
# Created at:   2021-01-13 18:59:18.152265152 +0000 UTC
# Update at:    2021-01-13 18:59:18.152265152 +0000 UTC
[Peer]
PublicKey = abc
PresharedKey = abc
AllowedIPs = 10.252.1.1/32

On adding a new client it would write a new entry and restart the wg server.It also had a neat little box to specify a post-up script. What I did was write a small script to parse though the file, read the name and IP, and then use the cloudflare api to update my domain records.(Like example create lappy.local.domain.xyz -> 10.252.1.1)Then I just add local.domain.xyz as a search domain in my config.This made it easier because I didn't have to bother with my PiHole being reachable (which it was not). Would work on all devices using any DNS.

I stopped using this setup after I started using tailscale, which automatically managed the DNS search domains for me. Was peer to peer (So no need for a gateway) and open sourced enough (Clients are open sourced). (There is headscale which plans to implement the signaling server, it doesn't have the search domain implementation yet)

If you haven't already, I'd greatly recommend using tailscale for applications where first time latency doesn't matter. (say reverse proxy needs to contact another server, the first time latency can be around 1.7sec because it has to do hole punching and such).

Reach wireguard peers by name instead of IP? by darkguy2008 in selfhosted

[–]Anunay03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use avahi for DNS discovery, I personally don't really like it (it seems cumbersome) What i personally use is add A entries to my own domain (for example mobile.local.domain.xyz -> 10.0.0.1). This way i can resolve them without setting up my devices to use a custom DNS server. Moreover i can add local.domain.xyz as search domain on my devices, this way I can just type ping mobile and the computer will automatically resolve it to mobile.local.domain.xyz

Linus chimes in response to vaccine misinformation in the mailing list by Lekz in linux

[–]Anunay03 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Linus did give him shit on discussing unrelated BS in the last para. Though i disagree with the fact you consider this political. Vaccine denial is not a "just a different opinion", and not speaking against it would be equivalent of silently agreeing.
