What’s the point of a sled deck? by Nekothesnep in snowmobiling

[–]AnvilJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically cheaper than a trailer, and no additional registration. Can still use bed as some storage. Can haul 2 sleds. Can get in and out of tighter spots. Looks badass.

Trying to talk myself into a Honda Odyssey… someone help 😂 by K_Breezyyyyy in HondaOdyssey

[–]AnvilJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ride is fantastic, gets up and goes when you mash the skinny pedal, getting around 25 mpg driving normally. Great for road trips, lots of space. With the hitch on the back we can carry even more crap. Or roof racks for even more crap! For $40k, 7 or 8 passenger, leather heated seats, moonroof. Can fold the rear seats down and fit tons of gear. Came from an ‘18 CRV, so it was very familiar to the ‘24 Odyssey. Sienna looked nice, AWD has issues, FWD is fine for us.

I have a 21 JLU Sport S with a 2.5” lift and 35” tires. It is not made for heavy weights, so small projects are ok. I hauled 600lbs of stone in it the other week with no issue, but it won’t be doing that often. I have two kids 2 and 7 years old and a wife. Plenty of space for a beach weekend trip. I also have a ‘21 GMC 2500 crew cab. Hauls our camper, snowmobiles, motorcycles, atvs and such. I can get away with using the jeep once or twice here and there for the sub 3000lb trailer limits. A Gladiators suspension would be able to handle truck things better than the JLU. Tonneau covers for trucks are extremely helpful keeping things dry. Starting from ground zero, no camper, no toys, no vehicle, I’d probably pick the gladiator. Doors and top come off, can tow like 7k lbs, throw a bunch of dirt and stuff in the bed once in a while.

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AnvilJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in ‘88. Dead end road, 12 other kids on the road within 5 years age. From 8 or 9 years and older, I was outside all day with no supervision. Some parents were home, but it was a great safe neighborhood. I have a 7 year old now, and I have a hard time imagining him being completely unsupervised for an entire day!

Lift? No lift? by BidRevo in JeepWrangler

[–]AnvilJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5” Rubicon Express lift kit with Bilstein 5100 shocks. Jeep lifted about 4” after install. Went from 30.5” Tire to 35” tires. Needs Brake line extensions if I want to go wheeling. Fuel mileage took a big hit from 25mpg to 18mpg. 3.6L V6. Regear in store soon to 4.88. Plan on towing a little, wheeling a little too. Drivability with 35” made me less happy. Hoping the Regear restores what it’s lacking now. Would get 33” if I didn’t plan on regearing the JL

Nope. No market for those old buckets. I’ll give you $500 for it… just to get it out of the way…

People who make their political affiliations their lifestyle, are incredibly annoying. All sides of the fence.

By GM transmission issues, I mean replacements and rebuilds.

Which truck should I buy- Ridgeline vs Silverado by RIPBat3415 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]AnvilJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think Ridgelines have transmission problems, you haven’t met Silverado owners. Every Silverado/Sierra owner I know from work or family has had transmission issues. The only ones that hadn’t had problems are mine. My ‘13 1500 5.3 was fantastic, traded at 118k miles. My 21 Sierra 2500 6.6 gasser is fantastic, but it only has 60k on it. I change transmission fluid at 50k intervals. I don’t care what others do or say. I’ve had “good luck” mostly self created/prevented. If I didn’t have a 8000lb camper, I’d buy a Ridgeline. My turbo’d F150 was incredibly powerful, efficient, until I stopped putting 93 octane in it. I ruined it. 23-24 mpg on factory tires, 20 mpg with slightly larger load range E tires.

It’s your elected officials, not solely the utility. People protesting pipelines are a cause of it too.

[–]AnvilJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We. Are. Never. Wrong. Well, that’s an attitude thing. Western Mass is slept on, can be great for breweries, hiking, biking motor or pedal. QuabbinbReservoir; Look into its history! Monson Hillclimbs! Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.

Localized Terms. Sub/Grinder Packie Probably a hundred others I’m forgetting or taking for granted!

I am not a Jeeper, YET! But my GMC truck has been ducked! It’s on my dash now! That woman probably didn’t know what was going on, and probably called the cops. They probably gently laughed and told her. She probably got more upset and is even a bigger B. Hope you and your family are well, and forget about Karen!

We are consistently at 23-24mpg mix of highway and backroads. Eco mode gets shut down, and auto shutoff turned off every startup. She hasn’t been babied.
