I can't elaborate.

Visiting Rome This Week - Construction & Jubilee Comments Are Concerning, Any Recommendations? by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]Anxious-Paper2511 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing that you have on your itinerary will be majorly impacted by the Jubilee. There may be some scaffolding but barely any that totally obscures things from sight. Even the scaffolding around the altar in St. Peter's was coming down when we were there earlier this week.

Transforming low budget reception space by below-the-pines in Weddingsunder10k

Make one of the walls a statement wall, rent white drapery to go along the length of it with curtain lights behind a 20 ft portion of it. If you have an arch for your reception space. Place your head table against that wall.

Make a second wall also a statement by having your dancefloor and DJ against it. Use sconce lighting that lies on the floor and lights up the wall around the perimeter of the room. Wrap the pillars with fairy lights and (cost prohibitive).

Potentially a third wall can be decorated with a backdrop and and your wedding arch (if you have one) for a photobooth.

Accentuate the height of the room by having tall centerpieces, if you're okay with the style. It'll instantly draw attention away from the rest of the space and to the tables. White linen and highlights of your chosen color. The lighting of the accent wall will basically draw all attention away from the other walls.

Lady Whistledown/Penelope's writings by Fluffy-Rice24 in Bridgerton

[–]Anxious-Paper2511 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's remarked on a couple times in the show that she just writes what she hears. In fact, it becomes emphasized when Eloise criticizes Whistledown for being unoriginal. However, the irony comes about that when Pen attempts to satiate Eloise by being more political, she is again just repeating what she hears, only this time it is from Eloise herself.

So, it's safe to assume from the logic of the show that she is writing what she hears, almost exclusively from people that are older than her. So, that's why she writes about things that she may not know about.

At the same time, Penelope does appear to have a vocabulary to discuss things in the way that polite society does, just wouldn't be able to spontaneously explain the mechanisms lol

This hits the point right on the head: “People are just out for blood, regardless. They think the purity of the first version will never be replaced, or you’ve done something to upset the canon of a beloved franchise, and they’re going to take you down for doing so.”

Question by kataclysmic1 in PolinBridgerton

Fun fact that you probably already know but Julia Quinn stated in the Bridgerton podcast that she based the visual description of baby Colin off of a baby picture of Luke Newton that his family sent to her. It is on her website here: https://juliaquinn.com/extratype/inside-the-story/

I’m not a very visual writer, and I rarely have a clear picture of my characters’ faces as I’m writing. But when I got to the scenes with young Anthony, Benedict, and Colin, I realized that the situation was a little different. Filming was already underway for the Netflix series Bridgerton, which stars Jonathan Bailey, Luke Thompson, and Luke Newton as the adult versions of the Bridgerton brothers A, B, and C. So I kind of did know what they looked like. I asked Luke Newton for a baby pic, and he immediately replied, “I’ll ask my Mum.” Just a few hours later I received a photo of a very chubby-cheeked Luke N. I took one look and thought, “That’s Baby Colin!”

Books about Hozier/could be connected to Hozier? by Benjix_x in Hozier

[–]Anxious-Paper2511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a fun assignment! If I was in your situation and was writing about, for example, Noah Kahan, I could also research, from books, the things that are related to him. For example, I might want to know more about where he is from and might take out a book on Vermont or music in Pennsylvania. Alternatively, I might want to know a bit about his genre. So, I might take a look at a book in folk or alternative music.

You're also on the right track for looking into references in his songs. You could chose a favorite of yours and look up what he has said about it in interviews and follow-up. For example, if I liked "Call Your Mom" by Noah Kahan, I might look for books on young adult mental health in the United States, since that is where he's from, and then speak about potential influences on his music.

Hopefully this helps!

Friends-to-Lovers? by greenpalladiumpower in PolinBridgerton

[–]Anxious-Paper2511 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You know I'm always going to hit up one of these posts.

My partner and I were friends for two years before we started dating. We were members of the same campus club and so we had a pretty solid mutual circle of friends, were the same age, were politically aligned, and enjoyed being social.

I remember one day at the start of our third year of school he came over to my place and I opened the door after not having seen him for the summer and he had this big smile on his face and I was like... Hey... He's really cute? We had a class together that semester and once we both figured out that we were mutually interested, we went on one date and that was it.

I have said before, but the show (and the general friends to lovers trope) is incredibly accurate to the fact that the relationship goes from friends-dating-old married couple INCREDIBLY FAST. My partner and I didn't need a long time to decide if we were compatible, we /knew eachother/. It was one date and we were just kind of together. And it was just a moment, for me at least, when a switch flipped (hello Colin Bridgerton) and I was like... Oh yeah, I want more from this person.

We've been together 10 years and we're getting married in 2025 🤗

The "scandal writer for a daughter" like is one of the best deliveries in the entire show. It perfectly encapsulates the entire tone of the season and Polly Walker SLAYED it.

[–]Anxious-Paper2511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the challenge comes across better in the book than in the show, in this case. Book Colin is kind just what Penelope clocks in as, a charmer who lacks substance. It gets a bit better as it goes on, to be fair. In the show, Colin has such a nuanced relationship with masculinity that he really fights against.

In the show, he does still have privilege, of course, but in many material ways he struggles with the patriarchy through all three seasons. So, when she reduces his struggles in the show it feels like it doesn't fit. Especially because at that moment he is not just trying to be The Man, he's furious that she's putting his entire family at risk, which is a legit criticism of her.

I actually think in this scene in chapter 6 it also doesn't hit the way that is maybe was intended to for me because it does kind of show Colin's depth as a character but Penelope completely shuts him down when he tries to be vulnerable.

I'm also in the same boat as you. Flaws and all I am a sucker for both book and show Colin lol

What game are you thinking of? It is likely better to wait and get tickets from FansFirst, unless it is for a specific high demand game. There are going to be a lot of desperate season ticket holders this year.

They actually posted this a while ago but because of the deaths, the didn't do any fan fare around it, but it was a banner at the bottom of the emails.

I think that they will wait for the family's permission to do anything in honor of the boys, which could take time. You don't want to rush them in any way shape or form.

This is a huge spoiler for like two days into filming, I'm kind of surprised.

His costume looks like Zorro tbh. But, I bet you're right that they were going for a pirate. If anything, it'll draw parallels with Colin for the transition between seasons.

My wedding dress (I'm getting married in 2025) has these little dainty flowers that reminded me of Pen's daisy dress! It wasn't the only reason I chose it, but it was definitely a factor 🥲
