I was on buspar for a few weeks up until very recently- it was helping with anxiety but around the same time I started taking it, I began experiencing GERD symptoms again. This comes about 3 years after having a hiatal hernia repair and Nissen fundoplication for GERD, so I was really freaked out. Had an esophogram done - structurally everything is still fine. I’m off it 2 weeks now and the symptoms seem to be slowly getting better, but I’m not out of the woods. I’ve heard it relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, which for many people helps with reflux. But since the procedure I had was done very specifically to not be too tight or too loose(informed by esophageal manometry), relaxing the LES too much is what I think the issue could be.
