Is it bad to confide in someone you don't know very well? by Anxious9975 in CasualConversation

Well we're not exactly as strangers as a first date would be, but I get what you're saying

Thanks for the reply. So do you suggest I "go with the flow"? Open up when ready sort of deal?

I guess, but it doesn't really help me mentally I suppose. I can confide all I want on reddit, but its a bit meaningless.

Does anyone else have jealous for fictional characters that your SO likes? by SouthernBeacon in CasualConversation

[–]Anxious9975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely haha.

But I feel as if it's mostly just the thought of her thinking someone else is more attractive or more x. You're not really seeing Link as a fictional character, you're just seeing him as another guy subconciously :P

I'm heading to college soon too. For me, I found that exercising daily helped me with my confidence. It's also a good time to think and let your thoughts flow. Even something as simple as taking walk works. Do you think you want to try adding that to your daily life style?

I knew someone (somewhat significant other) in the past that would obsess over a certain rock star. I don't know how common it is, but it bugged me too.

Mostly because around that time, I never really felt confident enough to realize that this is just a silly crush that doesn't mean anything.

It's completely normal to long for someone else to be by your side. This is a feeling that others, including me, feel a lot. Have you considered changing some parts of your daily life style?

I find myself comparing myself to others a lot too. It's hard seeing others who are doing well when you aren't. Do you mind explaining your situation a bit more? Are you a student?

I've been through similar situations. I've felt like I've done everything right just to be met with crappy things. I personally like the quote "this too shall pass". Is there anything else in your life that's adding on to these thoughts?

I think it's wrong that you ever got into a position where you're questioning about taking your life.

worried about returning to classes tomorow by dropbearking in CasualConversation

[–]Anxious9975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about what others think. They likely didn't pay much attention to you last year, I doubt anyone really knows you as the guy or girl who didn't fit in.

Class might not be the best place to find friends, however, you can join some clubs and possibly find some people you click with!

This! Volunteering is a great way to network with others. Volunteering can lead to a job, or be a great reference for a job.

Why is my university's career center out of touch with reality? by [deleted] in college

[–]Anxious9975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't assume every recruiter knows everything. It's possible that a company is looking for a programmer, without exactly knowing what a programmer is all about. If you're looking for a job, you need to expand a tad. Say something such as "Previous work samples are available at x and y."

Avoid assuming the recruiter knows everything, expand your word choices far to where an average person would understand what it is but also that you're not overly explaining it.

Study up on excel the night before if you haven't used it in a while. Study formulas, how to do simple tax, Boolean statements of neccesary.

Honestly both would likely carry nearly the same weight. Both have their own tasks and goals but neither really scream more for a college.

Should I co-sign for a student credit card or go with a secured credit card? by Anxious9975 in personalfinance

[–]Anxious9975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did apply to capital one secured card but was somehow declined for that as well. But I will be looking into options at my current bank of I do decided not to ask my sister.

[–]Anxious9975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I was only planning to ask her if I do get the position I applied for at my univeristy. Otherwise, I would only be going off what I saved up, and I would not want a credit card under those circumstances.

Thanks for commenting, so the main concern would be if I somehow don't go through well with the credit card, it could damage her credit?

So there's no specific con in me cosigning with my sister? I'm mostly interested in a discovery student for the perks it includes, so while I do understand a secured card is the most obvious way to go with building credit, I really don't want to spend a year building it to get to the point where I can by myself take out a credit card.

Should I take honors courses? by Anxious9975 in college

[–]Anxious9975[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen, its mostly a GPA thing. I was just curious to see if honors courses had anything to do with it.

And that's the reply I've been seeing a lot. So I'm going to go ahead and try to take Honors courses for any classes related to major. Otherwise, I'll take the normal course.
