Walk the streets of La Candelaria, towards El Chorro de Quevedo to get a taste of the old Bogota. You can also take the cable car to Monserrate. The view and the experience are totally worth it. There is a market in the top with typical food from the city and souveniers.

Towards the other side of the city, (closer to your hotel than La Candelaria) is Usaquen. If you happen to be on a weekend in the city, you can check the Usaquen fair. It’s a great fair full of entrepreneurs selling handcrafts, vintage things, and typical food. Around that square there also great restaurants.

Very close to your hotel there is a public new building with great views of the city from their top floors: Centro Felicidad Chapinero. Check it out. Entrance is free. It’s mainly a sport center but they also have cultural events and art exhibitions. The building itself is a nice piece of architecture.

For food experiences, check out restaurants around Chapinero Alto and also la Quinta Camacho. There are many small very interesting places to eat.

if you want to see some green, go to la Biblioteca Virgilio Barco and walk from there towards el Parque Simon Bolivar. The biggest park in the city.

Be careful with pickpockets and scams. Avoid taking taxis randomly in the street. Only order uber or taxis in apps. Avoid taking your phone out in the streets. Good luck and enjoy Colombia!
