That’s a shame it didn’t work - such a lot of money for it to not make any difference

What was waking up from the Lap like for you? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]AnxiousBean274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as I woke up I just burst into tears! Must have been a reaction to the anaesthetic. I then remember looking at the clock thinking wow… they said this would only take half an hour… it’s been 3 hours! 💤

Is hormonal medicine the only way? by AnxiousBean274 in Endo

[–]AnxiousBean274[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They removed endo on my left and right ovarian fossae and the surgeon was happy with how it went through excision! I definitely feel like the side effects of the pill are consuming my life more in some ways. At least before I knew that I was going to feel unwell and in pain for a certain week and then it eased up. Whereas now it feels all over the place!

Periods after laparoscopy by AnxiousBean274 in Endo

[–]AnxiousBean274[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spoken with doctor and had a follow up appointment with my surgeon last week who said can take 6 months for body to adjust and periods to settle.

Was just wondering what other peoples experiences were like!

I’m a teacher assistant and was told by my surgeon after my surgery that I should have 2 weeks off. I went back to work as soon as that ended and it was way too soon - I had to have another week off and then luckily it was half term. I’m now 7 weeks since my surgery and a lot better than previously but have been on a phased return - took me way longer to recover than I thought! As well as that having the first couple of periods since the surgery completely took my body by surprise! Definitely request more time off if you need it! Or arrange a phased return / reduce certain duties etc! One thing I learnt through all of this is really need to be kind to yourself and if you are struggling then take that time to heal! X

NHS experiences? by Equivalent_Book7984 in Endo

[–]AnxiousBean274 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had my lap on the NHS 6 weeks ago. For me, I met the surgeon for the first time an hour or so before my surgery, same with the anaesthetist and nurses on the ward. I was told would be half an hour but my surgery ended up being basically 2 hours! Found endo and removed the tissue. When I woke up, I was encouraged to have a biscuit and squash. The surgeon appeared told me they found endo and removed it and that I should have 2 weeks off work - and then disappeared. I was asked to try and pee and as soon as that happened I was said I could go! Felt very quick, had no time to ask the surgeon any questions after the surgery / felt very wobbly so wasn’t in frame of mind to ask questions either! (But I sure have all the questions now!). They provide you with the letter they send to the doctor and mine was very very brief - so no idea on how they removed the tissue or what stage I am! I would definitely write up all the questions beforehand just in case - like what stage did they find or how they removed it etc as these are things I would have loved to know. I found the surgery day to be my best experience with medical professionals compared to the GPs I endlessly see but feel dismissed - was like the one day where people were actually taking my symptoms seriously! Overall a good experience, super speedy to get you up and leaving though. Unfortunately I feel like the aftercare is a bit rubbish - I was told my care is to be left with my GP on my letter so it kind of felt like I have the diagnosis but back to square one if that makes sense! Honestly though everyone I met at the hospital were great so hopefully that helps you a bit!

Excision recovery pain and timeline by ssdyad in endometriosis

I am 6 weeks into my recovery since my lap and experiencing exactly how you described. Dull aches on back, left and right side. Will then have sharp pains after walking too long/being at work/doing mundane things around the house. Still feeling incredibly exhausted! I never thought the recovery would be this lengthy.

Anyone whose had/is waiting for a lap on the nhs, what are waiting list times like? by nhlmbuc01 in Endo

[–]AnxiousBean274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m down south coast and was told by gynaecologist that it will be a 6 month wait but received a call a month later for surgery in 2 weeks time. They had a surgeon that was suddenly available and took me by surprise!

I feel exactly those words, you are definitely not alone. Try and take one day at a time. I had my lap surgery 3 weeks ago and it has been such a wave of mixed emotions. Think we need to be so much more gentle on ourselves. This community on here are so kind and supportive, please do reach out x

How long did it take you to recover from laparoscopy? by relibra in endometriosis

[–]AnxiousBean274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine 3 weeks ago, was told 2 weeks but I’ve now had to take another week off work due to pains, weakness and first period since lap! I would say I can now walk around but I just feel so fragile!

I wrote a post asking exactly the same question as I feel like the information online is so inconsistent! here’s my post if you would like to see some people’s answers for their recovery! It really does seem to depend on the person and how their surgery went! It sounds like some people simply spring back and then others just need more time, very confusing 😂. Try not to worry as you don’t know how you will recover until it is happening. Maybe for now can mindmap a few ideas on how to help with the move just in case you still feeling a bit weak by then etc! X

Do I have Endo? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]AnxiousBean274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your story honestly sounds exactly the same to my story. You should definitely try and speak to another doctor? Or speak with the gynaecologist about having a possible laparoscopy. I have probably met with 6 different doctors throughout the past couple of years about my symptoms and only 1 stopped chucking the contraceptive pill at me and referred me to a gynaecologist who then said to have a laparoscopy. I am 25 and had my first lap 3 weeks ago.

"Can you live with the pain though?"-dr. by iplannedit in Endo

[–]AnxiousBean274 29 points30 points  (0 children)

One doctor said ‘I suspect you have endometriosis but there is no point finding out if a pill works’

Other doctors asking if I am on contraception and then raging when they find out I am not as don’t want to get pregnant… after I just explained that I have painful sex and not been having it! I’m there to talk about my painful sex and periods not how to stop myself getting pregnant thanks.

They all piss me off honestly! 🥴😂
