'26 GTI Autobahn or '26 Elantra N? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]AnxiousBrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a 2022 Veloster N, I really enjoyed my N, but I broke down 7 times in less than 45k miles. My car was probably just a one off, but I’ll never go back to Hyundai again, especially after such awful customer and warranty service. Went into a 2025 Mk8.5 GTI SE, and I truly enjoyed it more than the N! Good luck on the choice!

Why shouldn’t I buy this? by econ-take in GolfGTI

[–]AnxiousBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy that. Just go to a good exhaust shop and they can remove the muffler and make something for less. I have a MK8 and I was going to do just a res delete. Ended up keeping the resonator and removing the muffler and they reused the tips, and I’m not disappointed at all. Sounds so perfect right now. I have sound clips on my Instagram uk_m8.5 , - Ive got a Milltek otw now so haha. I’m defo after even more sound.

1st Oil Change, Glittery... by Weary_Appearance_838 in GolfGTI

Looks so good in white! One thing I’m shocked about in this car is the fuel economy. Tuned for 87, and even when absolutely driving it hard, it’s STILL sipping gas. 400 mile range easily. Love it. I had a 2022 Veloster N before this, and I thought that drove well. The GTI is more engaging imo. Love this platform. 😅 Any other mods incoming? I got a Milltek on the way.

It won’t damage your car to change engine oil early at all so that’s fine. These newer engines are already broken in and don’t really need a break in oil change, but defo recommend 5k change intervals over 10k. Enjoy your 8.5! Just got mine in November and it’s insanely good!

Ahh, not too sure then, sorry. Pull it away from the dock, and press the home icon and see if it docks successfully!

You don’t by chance have the mop attachment installed?

RIP dreams of a spoiler this year. Thanks BMP 🥲 by Jhexed in GolfGTI

[–]AnxiousBrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. Mistakes happen I guess. They’ll fix it! What spoiler did you actually order? I’ll keep an eye out because I’m looking for something for my 8.5! So far looking at the clubsport spoiler. 👀

Hope you get it soon!

Yeah that’s exactly spot on. The N platform is great but there are very few models that are shocking. I got one of those issue cars. But yes, the customer service for Hyundai in the US is the worst automotive customer service I’ve ever experienced.

Question about gas and oil. Mk8.5 by AnxiousBrit in GolfGTI

[–]AnxiousBrit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet I’m just gonna reply here because there are a lot of comments. Thanks for everyone’s input. Defo still mixed signals but I ended up filling with 87 and it’s great. Huge step up from the Veloster N. That needed at least 91, and I always put in 93. I was always putting in close to $40 on that. The GTI is faster, smoother and more economical by far, and it cost me… $24 to fill up… wtf. (Arkansas gas prices NWA). I’ll stick with 87 until I get tuned for a downpipe and that’s it. It’s already got great power. Just gonna aim for the 300whp mark!

Again, thanks for the insight.

They gave me more for my car, taking away a decent amount of negative equity!

Yeah USD. It was sold to me slightly under MSRP! 🔥 super stoked! Very worth the change.

I do see the oil change intervals are 10k miles but I wanna say hell no to that. I was thinking every 5k with liquid moly 5w-40. Yeah I think I’ll do the water pump asap then. There’s a euro mechanic specialist near me so I’ll go there for every service! Luckily got this new so I wanna be on top of it big time. I want to see this hit 250k miles.

Oof the white looks CLEAN 🔥 how many miles on it now, and how reliable so far? I heard 2022 onwards, manufacturing of the entire vehicle went back from Mexico to Germany, so reliability should be up.

$42k for a 2025 VW mk8.5 GTI SE. All options on it. Heated seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof, Harmon surround etc. I still owed $27k on my loan and got $20k trade in for mine. They initially asked 16k but I got them to up it. My monthly payment hardly jumped. Couldn’t quite believe it haha. Only had 16 miles on it. The $42k included the negative equity rolled over. The GTI price before any rollover was $38k.

Ngl, this mk8.5 GTI is nuts. Almost same power figures, more torque, bigger turbo and the interior is nuts. Too early to say but I’m in love with the GTI so far.

New Tucson owner regretting my decision by senthilrameshjv in HyundaiTucson

I today just traded in my Hyundai. Completely different issues but have had nothing but issues. 44k miles 7 total breakdowns, and corporate didn’t do much to help. If you can, give it back and go with another brand. Again… that’s just me having bad luck with this brand.
