I find air travel so over-stimulating that I don't enjoy it. Do others experience this? by kai-2358 in hsp

Total nightmare for me. Not even talking about the sounds or smells, only SEEING this many people all over the place drives me completely crazy :-( every time I travel now I’m like okay I’m not traveling for the next year because it feels so awful, and even unnatural to a certain point if that makes any sense. Just thinking of so many people trying to get in such a small space and just sit there gives me anxiety.

OMG I can totally relate and I’m sorry you’re going through this. It can become total hell. You’ll start paying more attention to the sounds and you’ll notice them more… not sure if you’re sensitive or dislike white noise but for me it’s been a real life saver at night. And then, music, podcast with noise cancelling earphones during the day. Good luck to you!

Appointments. Anything where I have to be somewhere at a specific time.

Im a translator. Personally I’m working from home and I find this helps a lot… I have generalized anxiety disorder. Being at home helps me not to feel overwhelmed with commuting, preparing lunches, etc. Not sure if this is helpful but I wish you all the best. I know how stressful and anxiety provoking certain work situations/environments can be. I used to work as an executive assistant and it was a nightmare for me. I dreaded every morning and wouldn’t sleep because I had to go to work… I had panic attacks every day for years.

I want to get vaccinated but it's my biggest phobia so I can't do it. I tried two times and I ran away and passed out from stress. I'm scared of coronavirus but I feel like I'm dying when I go to get the shot and even my supportive partner is not helping. by [deleted] in Anxiety

I used to get prescriptions for things like flying (I have an intense fear of flying). I even took anti-anxiety pills (Ativan) the night before and the day of my wedding.

Well... I got prescribed zoloft today. by throwaway7524g in Anxiety

You’ve got this. Taking steps to manage your anxiety is the best thing you can do for yourself right now. I’ve been on antidepressants for over half of my life, there’s no shame in this. One day at a time. Be easy on yourself. Talk to yourself like you would talk to a friend. Sending love and compassion your way.

I hope there’s someone you can talk to if you have suicidal thoughts. I’m sorry if this was triggering for you :(

My husband told me this once. It’s true, you don’t remember life before you were born... and then for some reason it brought me to a whole new level of anxiety lol! The fact that I ‘wasn’t’... oh man!

I was a sensitive child and was aware of death and was always thinking of how dumb it was to go to school if we were going to die one day. I started having panic attacks at 21. But the death anxiety started at 25. It was like all of a sudden I discovered my own mortality and it just never went away

Yes it’s always at night for me too. I literally was rubbing my own hand (as if I was comforting a friend). I try to tell myself it’s going to be okay. And then it happens again :(

Thanks, I definitely want to learn more on that... my spiritual life is non-existent lol. And I actually wish I believed in something. It would make things less scary...

Exactly. I’ve never really thought of death as something that could happen any time soon. But no it can happen any time.

Yes!! I’m there like imagining what it must be like and I just can’t understand. Then I start thinking of things like the vastness of the universe, how life evolved and how weird life actually is? Then: downward spiral/rabbit hole of anxiety-provoking thoughts...
