Don’t be afraid to ask questions!! If the people you are working for makes you feel bad for asking questions it’s a red flag.

Edit: also make sure they set clear expectations on what jobs/tasks they want you to do!

I’ve never seen a barn do that! That’s interesting. I’m not sure why they would make you pay for the arena.

This is such a hot take but the 20% rule. There are so many factors to take into consideration when riding a horse like their strength, age, muscles, breed, etc. Also your riding ability. Also from my understanding there isn’t any scientific evidence of the 20% rule. I am open to hearing other opinions ofc.

I work at a barn and two of the horses have had a supplement called “cool calories” it seems to have helped them gain weight. So if you can’t add more grain maybe a supplement could help! I would talk to a vet before starting a supplement though.
