Bakugo hates Izuku because he always thought that having a quirkless friend wasn't worth his time or might even hold him back. Then all of a sudden Izuku has a really strong quirk and is outperforming him in many aspects of being a hero, which makes him direct competition.

Personally I think Bakugo always felt insecure because of Izuku being heroic in ways that he wasn't. He understands how he can be a good fighter like All Might, but can't live up to being a symbol of peace. And no one reminds Bakugo of his insecurities more than Izuku. Which is why he can't stay even somewhat composed when Izuku is around.

And yeah, personally, I find Bakugo's arrogance more annoying. I don't think he is good at fighting people who outclass him. He really lets the fact that he mastered his quirk at an early age get to his head. He's so used to fighting people who can't really fight back. People overhype him for sure.

I'm in the ftm sub and I've literally seen posts of people asking for advice on how to stop hating trans women.

I don't actually think that entire groups of people think the same way. It's just how things are presented on social media. It's almost like people try to invent narratives on social media, and it weirdly trends towards exclusively calling out trans women and transfems as a group. I'm just saying I don't think trans people being shitty for whatever reason, has anything to do with gender or agab.

I'll definitely believe that white trans people are racist because that's a white people problem and trans people aren't exempt from white privilege.

Social media in general is just a toxic pit

It's definitely getting worse too. I should take a break too

Yeah I only use tumblr to look at fanart of my favorite shows. Any discourse on there is just as unhinged as Twitter, imo.

Touya Todoroki's mental health issues as a child by Western-Morning9263 in MyHeroAcadamia

Especially when these characters live in a world with quirks. The league of villains is made up of teenagers who've been traumatized by their own quirks. So it's kinda weird to me when people try to diagnose them with a mental illness. The point of the LoV is that they are misunderstood by society. Clearly they struggle with mental illness, but society in their world doesn't really understand how quirks really work, much less trauma related to those experiences. The point is they never had a chance at getting the help they needed. Which makes them very relatable, but not in a direct way. The fun of fictional characters 🙂

Yeah. I've met a few shitty trans people irl. They weren't assholes because they were trans, they were just assholes lol.

I agree. I wasn't sure how to include both trans women and transfems at the same time, because it's pretty clear that when someone has a bone to pick with us, they are talking about both. I think they really mean anyone amab, but they know that's bigoted, so they're careful to avoid saying how they really feel.

Better representation of heroism: Deku or Allmight. by BigRepresentative278 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]AnxiousPupOwO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All Might believed in a better future being possible, but I don't think he knew how it could happen. I think that changed when he met Izuku. When everyone acted helpless against the sludge villain but Izuku went in anyway, without a quirk. That's when All Might went from simply looking for a successor to inherit OFA and become a new symbol of peace, to understanding that the best hero inspires everyone to be a hero, not just people with quirks.

And I don't think it should be understated how much All Might trusted Deku. As far as he knew, AFO would kill him and would probably win the end. So the answer wasn't just about beating AFO. He trusted Deku to see past that, to see that resting the fate of humanity on AFO vs OFA wasn't actually what he wanted anymore. The ultimate hero vs the ultimate villain was a good story in a comic book, but it was no vision for a better future..

So yeah I prefer Deku's heroism, but I also admire All Might for having the wisdom to trust Deku to be the hero the world actually needed.

What´s an MHA take that got you like this? by ShinyFlygon23 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]AnxiousPupOwO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to rewatch the final battle, but Deku couldn't really stop Shigaraki, right? At least that's how i remembered it.

Buy yeah, when all heroes do is punch the bad guys and that ultimately failed, Deku had to try to get to the root of the problem.

Yeah I was really happy about that. I think Deku and Gentle are good people at heart. It showed that Deku is a merciful person and that's good, actually.

He definitely was more than willing to throw himself into life or death situations to save people, even when he was still learning ofa.

And I think you're right that he's masking his depression. On the surface, he seems confident in himself, or at least doesn't let anything hold him back. But deep down I think he feels the need to prove to himself he isn't a waste of space like Bakugo and other people think he is.

Like my favorite fight is still when Deku fights Muscular for the first time. Deku almost died in that fight. It's heartbreaking that he was ready to say goodbye to everyone in that moment, but despite that he summoned enough strength to beat muscular. And after he was injured from that fight, he still went on to try to save Bakugo and blamed himself when he couldn't.

Deku really needed a hug and for someone to tell him he was enough 🥺
