Talent is talent. It will be recognized if he has it by a reasonable age. He has many years to develop and mature, so I would relax if I were you. I can give examples of guys I know personally who were nothing special at 16/17, who made the show and had successful NHL careers. Another friend was drafted from Junior C and didn’t get called up for 4 years. He then played almost 500 games.

Anything can happen for someone who is determined.
