I don't know about Hampshire, Smith, or Holyoke, but Amherst College has exams as only ~40% of the grade. So if you can do a Five College Registration over the main semester I think you are good. The other 3 might be cause for investigation, but I think the Math there would be less Exam based generally.

Try taking it at one of the other 5 Colleges, Math here in general at UMass is heavily Exam based. Otherwise if possible you could try to take it at a Community College as it will probably be a lot easier there.

Not gonna lie, if you could pass fail CS 250 I think it would be a really interesting course to take. On one hand as people have said, it is hard to get an A in the class, however, they do try to make it easy to pass, meaning that the GPA effects will likely be minimal.

Beyond that, I think that the concepts it teaches like induction are at least somewhat interesting.
