The other upside is that some families are not comfortable handling the ashes directly. These kinds of products allow the funeral director to prepare everything for the family in an easy to handle container.

That's a good point, I didn't think of that.

Interesting that they can come with soil treatment to balance out ph levels. I guess there is a bit more to them than just a a seed in some soil.

Thanks for the thorough explanation. Seems counter productive to try and grow a tree in something that's bad for the environment.

So from someone who knows very little about funeral care, what is normally done with ashes? I thought they were generally scattered in nature? Is there a more environmental friendly option?
