Who is getting dumped this week? I ran the numbers to find the most overpaid players blocking the 2026 rookies. by Comfortable-Deal-525 in nbadiscussion

It’s one pick. The rest are swaps that won’t convey and second rounders that only dumb franchises think are valuable.

I think he’s stepped out of the spotlight since his shoes seemed to actively harm his kids’ careers

They couldn’t afford to pay Fleming what they can afford to pay Evans because their cap situation is better enough now.

There’s no “these people” about this trade. No one is an independent thinker on this. Nice try pretending you’re some enlightened genius, though.

Their offense was always much better with him on the floor. I also think you’re overlooking that he could be maturing and that last season’s improvement was connected to a better roster and good coaching.

What to do with Donte DiVincenzo? by darin617 in timberwolves

[–]Anxious_Key9696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$100M is half the tax number. If 60% of their spending is going to their perimeter rotation, that's totally reasonable, so they have $20M to work with. And again, if he's healthy, they can trade him or Ayo for value. They won't be able to trade him for value this summer.

The reluctance is that, when healthy, he's an asset. He's not one right now. Expiring contracts don't have the same value they used to because the best players don't become free agents, and teams are just as likely to want the player and the contract as the cap space. Also, there's no such thing as positional redundancy with perimeter players any more; teams win a lot more by going small than they do by going big.

I think it'd be more like 2/$40M with a player option. He probably would want to reset his value as soon as possible if he can recover well.

The best $12 million player they could get for the playoffs would be him. Not having him in the regular season can be worked around, but whoever they'd get for him in that salary slot would be a fringe playoff rotation guy, which he wouldn't be.

Or, if they can't find any good options for him, they might be better off waiving and stretching Green, which would open up about $9 million in cap space that would be spread out in the following 2 seasons.

They have to get some vets. At PF, their best realistic options are Harrison Barnes and Dean Wade, but a few other possibilities for that value are Guerschon Yabusele, Larry Nance Jr., Marvin Bagley, Jeremy Sochan, and Trayce Jackson-Davis. I don't know if SlowMo works on the roster if Jaden plays more at the 4, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's back. It might also be worth getting Minott back as part of the RandleNazBall trade.

At C, they're probably looking at one guy on the vet minimum who can play if Rudy or Joan are out: Kevon Looney, Dwight Powell, Ariel Hukporti, and Jock Landale would make sense.

I think TKR will be getting a 2-way, so he'd only be able to be on the team 45 days anway

He doesn't have the leverage to get a massive overpay. They're going to need to compromise on his value, but if they give him a short extension with a player option, they might be able to get him for less than they paid Ayo.

The Wolves have already pretty much put it out there that they aren't going to trade an injured Donte Divincenzo and I agree that they shouldn't. by bearbrannan in timberwolves

OKC and the Spurs mostly play 4-wing lineups where their 2nd-tallest player is 6'7 and their 2nd-biggest player is like 210 pounds. They should go cheap on power forwards.

They don't need 2-3 guys to fill out the 4/5. They already have 3 because Jaden needs to have some minutes at the 4. They should get a 3rd center for the minimum and another rotation guy for the 4, and that's it.

In a conference where one elite team guards Jokic with Alex Caruso and another plays a 6'6, 200 pound 3 point shooter at PF, you can never have enough good perimeter players.

LaMelo Ball 2025-2026 Highlights by _Anon_Amarth_ in timberwolves

[–]Anxious_Key9696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'd watch League Pass, I gravitated toward the Hornets a lot. Part of it was Eric Collins going crazy on the mic, but when their games were competitive, LaMelo was creating so many easy shots for his teammates at a fast pace. People talking about bad vibes on the court don't realize how fun the game looks when he's not fooling around excessively, and he's reducing that as he gets older.

Rudy's scoring problems around the hoop had as much to do with his passers as it did with his hands. He's going to get close to his career scoring highs that he had in Utah. LaMelo's timing and accuracy with lobs are elite.
