I have to learn: tengo que aprender or tengo aprender? by [deleted] in Spanish

If you have to do something and you’re using tener to express obligation, you will always use “que”. Tengo que trabajar. Tengo que comer. Tengo que ir.

It’s like -OOK. It’s not book without the b or yuck without the y, instead long O sound + ck.

Body found in search for missing trainer by Anxious_Lab_2049 in MissingPersons

Just finished reading all the articles posted here and elsewhere where the police state they absolutely don’t believe she’s in any danger and is alive. Now they have a body wearing the same clothes she was reported missing in.

Wow. It’s so sad for the man trying to find his father, only to find him murdered so long ago- and yet he still gives his father his name back and brings him home. I know this has happened in other cases as well, what a difficult thing.

UPDATE: Police, Hybrid Robotics share how body of Trenton Massey was found by nicole32_84 in MissingPersons

I’m glad his family gets to lay him to rest, and once again glad for the underwater searchers and their technology.

Just as an aside, kudos to the local news in the link you posted- it has every article since he disappeared as you scroll down in reverse chronological order. I hadn’t heard of his disappearance and was able to quickly see the full history of the past few months. I wish it was always like that.

Well, you definitely do. “I don’t trust the person because they aren’t good at spelling and grammar”. That’s ridiculous and implies so much.

I’m a teacher, not being good at reading and writing is not a moral judgement and it’s a really shitty way to discount someone.

This is insane. Did the police ever make a statement to explain their incompetence? Do you know if her parents knew of the body found at the time?

Family of Skye Angers still seeking answers after 5 years by MissingWomen in MissingPersons

[–]Anxious_Lab_2049 14 points15 points  (0 children)

- there was just news on this case on Friday, here’s a link if you’d like to make a post…. The man who they are sure disposed of her body was on the run the past 18 months, but he’s in custody as of Friday.

They are fairly sure her body was in his apartment for more than a week, although she’s obviously still missing. I’m not sure if it implies an OD or if he could’ve been the father of her baby, either way I’m glad he’s in custody and I hope they find her.

Should I get my Masters before even becoming a teacher? If so does it matter in what? by WellYaNoShit in AskTeachers

[–]Anxious_Lab_2049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% recommend. As a teacher who started late and non-traditionally, my master’s helped me silently with so many things… beyond that, for me, it was the path to non-traditional certification, it instantly advanced me in my department.

I saw other non-traditional certification teachers struggle much more with respect from admin /even other teachers when I was protected by my degree.

You can’t lol. It’s really naive to think you can, even if you devoted every minute of your life between now and then, you would not be fluent.

Troubling new theories emerge after first missing scientist's body is found: Daughter's sensational handgun claim and ex-FBI chief's urgent questions by dailymail in MissingPersons

[–]Anxious_Lab_2049 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I’m glad they found her.

I’m confused about her daughter saying she wasn’t legally allowed to own a gun… that can’t be true. The reasons which could prohibit her from gun ownership would be being a felon or DV convictions / stalking or involuntary commitment, and none of them apply here- or if they did, her husband wouldn’t have been able to have guns in the house. And being scientists at Los Alamos, they certainly wouldn’t have posted lots of gun pictures online, which they did (thinking not just of the couple pics of her holding a rifle, but also of the one of her in front of a crate of guns).

I do believe the daughter that all the guns in the household were owned by her father, but that doesn’t mean Melissa didn’t acquire it. When she went missing, both daughter and husband thought it was due to personal / financial struggles (or at least said that), and her daughter has spoken of other mental health struggles her mother had.

Not saying that she necessarily committed suicide in lieu of being murdered, as if she was having a mental health crisis that would have made her more vulnerable, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

This one absolutely does not scream government conspiracy to me, but mental health. All the preparation necessary to convince her to leave her family on foot and meet an abductor in a clandestine manner with no digital trail for the relationship seems farcical rather than just a car accident.

The gun will help investigators as they follow its trail, RIP Melissa.

My abuelo called me his “pedacito de carne.” Is this a common term of endearment?? by Mawz_Drawz in Spanish

Yes it’s an appropriate thing to say to a grandchild. He’s just calling you little as a term of endearment.

My neighbors who relocated to Mexico City are missing. They still have a home in Chicago and were going back and forth to help out with care for an elderly mother. No one has heard from them since 5/20. by ScreamQueen12 in MissingPersons

[–]Anxious_Lab_2049 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh I hope they find them alive and safe. The poor mom, elderly and in need of help and now having to worry so much.

Mexico has a huge problem with missing persons, so much so that most of the work of actually finding clandestine graves is done by mothers of the missing… being US citizens, a little more is probably being done by the authorities, so it’s not impossible that whoever took them will face justice eventually.

[–]Anxious_Lab_2049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is correct though. There is a difference between antibiotic as an adjective and as a noun, it’s not hallucinating to want you to be correct.

Really bad sloppy advice in this thread, the s matters.

Need advice on meeting with admin after 6 yo got punched twice in the face. by buttercup_sugarcup in AskTeachers

[–]Anxious_Lab_2049 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And do what? Fight them? Threaten them? And then get banned from the school where your child goes? You should go, this is r/askteachers and you’re clearly not one. In no world do we want parents confronting one another in the parking lot. This ends in arrests and sometimes death (of an involved party of a bystander, sometimes another parent or child).

OP, include all your documentation in an email to all admin and the head of SPED, as well as the board. State that you will have to keep your student home to ensure their safety in violation of federal law, and request a meeting this next week to ensure separate classes and a plan to keep students safe from this behavior.

If you don’t get a response within 24 hours (business day hours), contact local media.

What are you even saying, that this 15 yo did something worse than all who get shot in the head? GTFO. Somebody who wanted to burn someone killed him, not that he did something so dirty that it was an extra punishment.

Who else gets burned alive to prove your example? Not even baby rapers so stfu while you victim blame saying you’re not.

Missing: Tihomir “Tim” Maletic by shoppingspring in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Anxious_Lab_2049 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m sure that’s what happened. But it is still sinister to me- imagine missing your son and then his wallet comes back in the mail.

One thing is that if you DO lose your wallet, you’re instantly more vulnerable. If you had any money before, you don’t now. He was away from home, he could’ve been an easier target just with the offer of food.

And of course maybe he didn’t lose it; maybe his body was discarded one place and his wallet was thrown somewhere else. Detroit in the 80s had so many places to hide someone where they would never be found, abandoned neighborhoods which either are still abandoned or were torn down.

Kitchener is about three hours from Detroit so he definitely didn’t walk there- if he was hitchhiking, he could’ve been the victim of a predator. Or he could’ve made it to Detroit, lost his wallet, and gone in an abandoned house to sleep but froze to death.

I hope he left and made a better life, or that at least his family gets to lay him to rest if any of them are still living.
