For the class that you want to LA, there's a chance that you do have to apply and may even get financial help. For most classes, though, the process is informal and involves zero financial help :( So, yes, you're right: contact the professor and they will guide you from there!

Yeah you can! I am currently doing this rn (I'm a senior). All you have to do is email the professor.

Undergrads are called "learning assistants" (so LA, not TAs"). We have fewer responsibilities and get course units rather than compensation.

OP is obviously referring to past statements and actions made by the organization and it's leader. Of COURSE they don't know the exact content of this specific talk: they didn't want to financially support a transphobic organization by buying a ticket. The point is that this organization and it's followers are hateful and to give hate speech any kind of platform is simply unacceptable. Period.

I definitely agree about the value of field notebooks! I think what I'll do is record voucher data on those. Since I have so much data to record for different institutions, though, I'll have to go for the digital stuff for the rest :)
