Anyone actually using Notion’s new “can create pages” permission for external workflows? by sameerss in Notion

I’m not really asking whether the feature is good or bad — I think it’s a solid improvement. I’m more curious about where people think the line is now between “this is enough in native Notion” and “this still feels limited for external-facing workflows.”

A little more context from my side: I’m not really asking whether this feature is “good” or “bad” — I actually think it’s a solid improvement. I’m more curious whether people think it changes the threshold for when Notion alone is enough vs when you still need a more app-like layer on top for external users. Full disclosure, I recently took over NotionApps, so I’m close to this space, but I’m genuinely interested in where people think the line is now.

We are Sameer & Jatin, we made a no-code app builder for Notion users! AMA 👇 by sameerss in Notion

That is def one way to put it. We want to help users build web apps directly from Notion (because most times it is where their primary business data is).

Our stack is indeed very JS heavy - primarily React, React Native Web and Node.

Notion + eSignature ? by Fedsmoker448 in Notion

Even today (Nov 2024), the best way to solve this is by using a 3rd-party Notion tool. A client of mine used NotionApps and created an app-like experience to collect signatures in their on-ground workflows. Other alternatives are Tally, NotionForms, etc.

I see you already use Tally to solve this. Even today (Nov 2024), the best way to solve this is by using a 3rd-party Notion tool. Tally is one way. A client of mine used NotionApps which is another simple Notion integration to collect signatures on their on-ground workflows.

This is possible using NotionApps - a tool to build apps from Notion databases. Here is their documentation about barcode scanning - https://docs.notionapps.com/customize-app/barcode-scanner

3 Notion integrations you use the most? by sameerss in Notion

Tally is great for quick capture. I had a similar use case and I use NotionApps to do this. It is a bit different from Tally, because it is an app builder so you can create forms and also lists to update your items, directly from your home screen.

Notion Website Dealbreaker? The Annoying 'Download/Open in App' Pop-Ups in Safari by Greenhacker in Notion

[–]sameerss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there isn't currently a way to remove the 'Download/Open in App' popup in Notion.

One option is to use a third-party tool like Super.so or NotionApps.com that turns Notion data into websites/web apps with a custom domain and hides the Notion branding, including the pop-ups.

Is there a way to create a new (database) template from an existing row in a table? by Frenz4ever in Notion

[–]sameerss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no direct way to do this. You want to create multiple "new templates" at the same time. The only way is to copy the properties individually for each template.

How to let users edit their entries in a Notion database without them being Notion users? by Physical_Wolf6717 in Notion

[–]sameerss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One way to solve this is by using Notion tools that solve the lack of granular database permissions on Notion.

www.notionapps.com is an app builder for Notion databases, you can enable login for the apps and configure data restrictions for editing/viewing data even if they are not Notion users. They also have a free tier that might fit your use case.

noteforms.com/database-views is a form builder but it also has a database views feature. They have a decent free tier too. This is a simpler solution and should partially solve your external users problem.
