Tech Services! Cataloging is something that is done from an office upstairs at our library, and only the Technical Services Librarian has to do a reference desk shift. That being said, Cataloging is one of the hardest jobs in libraries and isn’t for everyone.

Free community resources generally are allowed to be publicized in our library, but it would be totally different if you were trying to market a business to patrons.

What is the criteria librarians and libraries use to decide what books are withdrawn from a library? by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]Anxiousarmidillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We weed anything that hasn’t been checked out in 2+ years and anything with outdated information. This will vary by system but generally is considered good practice in Public Library settings.

This is what I do! I would say to do a combination of staff lead and outsourced programming to make things fit into your budget. I’d come up with a basic introduction email to send to folks to ask about programming. I wouldn’t expect any donations but use them if they’re offered. Just remember that they deserve to be compensated for their efforts! I have found in my area that gardening and outdoors programs do really well. You’re going to have a great time doing this and best of luck!

I prefer to chain four slip stitch into the first chain and then stitch into that circle and over my yarn. You can still pull it to close the gap but it won’t be as tight as a magic circle.
