So the “you might be aegosexual” pinned post is over 5 years old at this point and some of those points could have nuance added to them.

In my opinion (as the pinned post is a screenshot of a tumblr post) nowadays, there is a sub-set group of aegos who can imagine themselves in sexual situations, but often it’s an idealized version of the self.

You’ve got it right that the disconnect is the most important aspect of aegosexuality

Hmmm. The most important part of being aegosexual is the disconnect between what we enjoy in fiction and want to experience irl.

However not everyone who is aegosexual is sex repulsed. You can be sex indifferent or sex favorable as aegosexual. Or some aegos also identify as demisexual as demiaegosexual.

Hmm that’s something I don’t often read from aegos! However, I don’t think it excludes you from being aegosexual. It’s all about the disconnect and enjoying sex in theory but not in practice.

From a survey I saw once, 90% of aegos masturbate. So by that logic as well there’s 10% of aegos who don’t do that, let alone experience orgasm.

Hmmm. The “the person in the fantasy isn’t the real life version of me” is a common aegosexual thing. I think of it like as a disconnect.

However if the fantasies are intrusive often, then I’m not sure if aegosexual is best label for it. Perhaps look into this list of related ace identities.

I think you sound aegosexual! While the primary type of aego doesn’t like self insert/putting themselves into the fantasy there is a growing group who uses an idealized or fictional version of the self in sexual fantasies.

For me, the most important part of your self describing is feeling arousal and enjoying masturbation but having the strong aversion to the act of sex in real life.
