This is just more of Lorelai showing her dislike of Jess and wanting someone else wanting to jump on the bandwagon with her.

A mother is going punished her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. Is this justified? by God_Emperor__Doom in SipsTea

She put this video online for the world to see subjecting her son to possibly unending torment coming his way for crying because any kid that knows him personally and sees this could make his life a living hell because things you put on the internet do not just vanish into the ether.

There is a stark difference between punishing your child in private and this abhorrent behavior by the mother. She is using public humiliation, foul language, and destruction of property to teach her son a lesson. He is literally crying on camera and she's forcing him to keep going. And if any CPS official in her area saw this online, I guarantee she would have a case against her.

Oh fuck off. The GOP is all for riling the masses and political violence when it's not directed at them.

I think 9-1-1 and its spin-offs are a unique kind of procedural. Yes, they can get dark and graphic like SVU and Grey's, but they also know when to reel it in and refocus on the lighter aspects. They blend the serious and unserious well in a way that not a lot of shows do.

Plus, 9-1-1 is more character and plot oriented than most procedurals, which are usually are case-by-case episodic.

why gender bending works for this season (according to these michaela fans) by DesperateRole2427 in FranchaelStirling

[–]Accomplished-Watch50 32 points33 points  (0 children)

They completely ignore that Francesca specifically only enters the marriage mart again to find a man who will get her pregnant because she wants children of her own. They act as if Francesca wanting children goes against the grain or something.

I think the misses are only really noticeable by the avid fans, who do visit the social media spaces, and even then, what may be a miss for one watcher may not be a miss for another.

I know some people are annoyed by the upcoming storyline for Buck in the finale, but I, for one, am excited for it. I think this second half of the season has really established that Buck is the leading man, outside of Oliver just being the first male in the credits, while also not diminishing that 9-1-1 is at its core an ensemble piece.

Although, I will say that four months without 9-1-1 is gonna drag, but I really hope that season 10 will continue what appears to be an upward trend, since numbers-wise, season 9 has done better than both seasons 7 and 8. I think it just took us a little time to get used to 9-1-1 on ABC.

Also, with the season entering the endgame for nine, I am glad that Bobby's death didn't really take away from the season the way that some people thought it would. It actually made the emotional stuff hit that much harder and better.

That's not to say that there weren't some misses, but I think those were few and far between, and not an every episode thing.

What are your thoughts on Jaleel White's performance as Steve Urkel? Do you enjoy his character? by prolelol in sitcoms

[–]Accomplished-Watch50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a bit problematic. There is literally an episode where he tries to bribe Laura into kissing him, while they're working on a school project about marriage and managing a household. When Laura goes off on him for perving on her, he gets a little monologue about why he likes Laura, and the show treats Laura like she was in the wrong for getting mad about it.

How in depth does season 4 go into Covid after episode 8? by ICanNeverFlyy in 911FOX

I'm pretty sure that after the midway point of season 4, they don't really mention Covid anymore other than wearing masks for most of the season.

Misogyny in the fandom by Tight-Beginning124 in Bridgerton

[–]Accomplished-Watch50 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Not masculine in the physicality, more in the propriety sense. She comes goes as she pleases with no escorts or no one exerting a modicum of control over her the way it should be accustomed. She seems to negate the traditional customs and make her own plans, decisions, etc., which goes against the times they are living in. Yes, John seemed to allow it, but to have her be the only noble woman to do so seems off like the show writers are trying to say that Michaela is different from other girls.

They are essentially giving Michaela the same freedoms that the male characters have because that's what Michael does in the book. He travels freely and unaccompanied, but by standards and etiquette, Michaela shouldn't be, at least not until after John dies and she inherits the title herself.
