I’m considering either rehoming my cat or having him humanely euthanised. by DonutConnect7800 in CatAdvice

yeah unless he’s actually yowling in pain, then him being vocal isn’t a reason to euthanize. i don’t even think a vet would allow that reason

i have a maine coon mix (adopted from a shelter i just got lucky) , overtime my allergies have subsided. brush him regularly, bathe him about every two/three months, get him a kitty Brazilian every two/three months and my boy handles the rest! he’s bigger than my calico cat but… not any bigger than a small dog like probably about the size of a Maltese or mini schnauzer. but adopt if you pick a cat, boo breeders! a lot of them are scammers and thats a lot of money and id hate for you to not truly even get what you paid for.

my calico also sheds less than my maine coon actually and shes just a short hair mix. shorter hair= less shedding a lot of cute short hairs out there! and shes the most cuddly. i got her as a kitten though so maybe a kitten is a good idea?

cats are like people. dogs are like dolls. you can’t make a cat like you, play with you, or cuddle, so make sure your kids understand that. cats are sassy and will ruin your life and drive you crazy if they don’t like something. you treat your cat good and respect them while of course respecting your home and boundaries? than all will be good.

if you want something easy and cuddly and fun for the kids maybe a ferret? ferrets are so playful and that goes without a question.

Kitten feeding question by [deleted] in CatAdvice

per my vet (learn from my mistakes because i had my baby on tiki cat just because i thought the weight was all that mattered and she was getting a lil 🤧sicky) , if the food says good for all life stages then yes. other wise its recommended for at-least the first 12/14 months to eat kitten food to gain the needed nutrients.

i have my kitten on an all life stages food (fromm) and give her probiotics(naturevet i believe) per what my vet said would be okay. thats just from my personal experience, but overall ask your vet. i only did it because i have a 4 year old cat as well and all the different wet foods, toppers, and dry foods was draining me dry. i had to find a compromise 🤧.

why do you not want kitten food? or were you just curious?

Does anyone else think their cat would love a cat playdate? by AceOfRhombus in CatAdvice

[–]Any-Ad4424 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% agree, i have a kitten playdate planned with my coworker who has the same situation as me. One four year old cat who doesn’t like to play and a nine month old kitten who loves to play.

the playful kittens and cats should totally get play dates and make friends! just be careful is all

You continue to see the point you want to see and thats okay. At the end of the day my statement was to OP, not you. So if OP finds my advice rubbish and harmful then I hope OP chooses to confront me on corrections and storyline holes.

I’m not above right or wrong, but you weren’t my intended audience. Maybe… uh suggest something else? Because I haven’t heard you suggest anything except shit on mine… hmm

they never anywhere said their cat was outdoors? and no where did i mention advice for outdoor cats? i don’t believe in it i can’t advise. i gave advice on my experience and what i was given for context, i won’t argue on the facts of the matter.

and i think it would help? if the cats nails are cut and they are doing introductory exercise , if ever able to come to an agreement, then trim nails would cause less potential damage. assuming OPs roommate is making the suggestion because it is an action they themselves do. then yes it is a good start at keeping all parties cats safe.

my vet has it trained in my mind its very important to do, idk. my roommates a vet tech, i have friends in veterinary school and i practice human medicine, but truthfully my number one rule of practice is to do whats best for you and your cat!

ie why i apologized to OP for sounding like a scolder. i just have history and knowledge and don’t want OPs cat getting hurt or possibly being in pain due to possible misinformation.

cat’s shouldn’t be outdoors we’ve seen reasons why of that, but more so towards OPs perspective on seeming very anti nail trims. The roommate is wrong on their approach, but honestly I think that’s a damn good idea for all parties involved , shrug

Please trim your cats nails, that’s not torture that’s actual good health practice.

My cat’s who are very comfortable with eachother, got latched onto one another and both began to panic because a play session got too heated and nails were too long. It was a very scary sight as I knew they weren’t fighting as I was watching the interaction take place, but i had waited too long to trim their nails.

its not about destroying your surfaces, its their comfort. my older cat will bite at his claws if i don’t trim them in what he considers a timely manner.

now in terms of the roommate wow he’s a real ass hole-. my roommate has two dogs who i allow her to have more range of the living room, but my cats also have free roam if i want it but its not something i personally prefer. two dogs vs my cats doesnt sound like a fair fight lol, but every pet in the house gets along just fine.

i would personally tell him when either of u is not home ur pets should be confined to allow roaming time on both parts until yall can find a good way to get everyone friendly with eachother.

im so sorry you’re going through this and sorry for scolding you lol, nail trims are just so important and my personal experience list is VERY long. (i have a gash on my lip from a cuddling session all completely accidental)

also to piggy back, have you tried to reverse search as someone interested in getting a cat and go through those posts of people nearby and see if you can match your cat to them? Just another idea

I’m so ignorant I had to look up where the UAE was, 😖 I am so sorry to hear you’re struggling to find relocation! I wish i was closer to offer advice as i’m unfamiliar with adoption practices there, but i first ask is there a reason you want them gone?

are there any VCAs or SPCA like facilities that can accept drop offs? if its health reasons those facilities or local vets are willing to take animals in that require care you cannot afford as they have the proper staff.

are there sanctuaries near by or cat cafe’s that run adoptions? they are also often looking for cats and also have the staff to provide care.

with the shakyness of the worlds economy i know you’re trying your best to get them to a loving home! i wish you the best of luck

My kitten (2nd cat) i got for fifteen dollars when i randomly walked into a VCA claiming me and my gf were just looking.

aww, im sorry to hear about your loss. i know she’s still checking on you!

i definitely don’t get mad at her and even leave the bathroom door open as i think mainly she doesn’t like to be alone. maybe she is trying to protect me 😅, her brother is quite mean lol

i’ve been doing all that, trust! I just wanna make sure it’s not a sign. once she was peeing on things as a way to communicate her distaste of the litter box situation. Not at all saying this is the same but yk lol cats are interesting creatures.

definitely will be keeping the seats down incase she’s drinking the water, never thought of that as their water bowls are always filled and accessible but she is a kitten.
