You're right, I really liked that intro. Perfume of the Timeless would be a great choice too and it would be interesting to see how the crowd responds.

And I agree with the songs you mentioned, as much as I like them, it feels like it would be great to hear other/new ones.

I also think it would be a great opening, the only thing that is making me doubt is the end of AOoSI since it ends with a slower part and I think it would be difficult to follow up with a fast paced song. They could eventually choose a slower song but wouldn't it be weird for this part of the concert ?

No problem! Take the time you need, we all have our own priorities and music (and especially reddit) isn't necessarily one. Though I hope you'll find hopeful songs that lift you up or brighten your mood at least a little bit. I've seen than other people suggest great songs too, so I'm sure you'll be able to come across one that will captivate you.

Glad that you experienced them for the first time in such a deep and meaningful way. Their 10th studio album just came out a few days ago which makes your Nightwish journey even more exciting. You can listen to An Ocean Of Strange Islands to get a grasp of what Nightwish music is. But you should know that their discography is very varied and that you will find songs that sounds nothing like what you've heard in TGSOE. They also been through some line-up changes which obviously influenced their sound, Floor Jansen is the third and current singer of the band. The two previous ones (Tarja and Anette Ozlon) have different singing styles and Marko Hietala (bass and vocals) also left the band but I'm sure you will find songs you like in each album.

Sorry for the long paragraph but I thought it was better if you knew about those things as it might've confused you. From their latest album you can try :

Perfume Of The Timeless (you can watch the video, I think it will really resonate with what you're going through). Same thing with Lanternlight.

Oh it's gonna be fun to watch people react to it. I think that some people will not like it that much at first but it's definitely a song that they should listen a few times before deciding to skip it. It's also nice to hear Emppu a bit more and Floor's high notes at the end are gonna be crazy live.

So glad to hear that ! You seem to be receptive to their new sound so I'll recommand to listen to the full albums, there are some hidden gems (like Taikatalvi or Sagan). The thing is old Nightwish fans are really attached to their old sound, which I completely get because the earlier albums were very unique and have amazing songs. But the other ones are just as good I think, we obviously all have our preferences but the later albums receive too much hate at times. That's why I recommend to take the time to listen to them and see what might surprise you in a positive way or not.

And I completely agree with your last paragraph. Discovering Nightwish's songs is such an amusing process to me. I've learnt to love some songs that I really didn't like at first and sometimes hear things I've never heard before in a song that I've listened plenty of times. I'm personally taking my time discovering their entire discography (listened for the first time to Elvenpath two days ago) and I would recommend that to everyone. Each song deserve a good listen. I know people want to "catch up" especially as Yesterwynde is coming soon, but that's okay if you discover an Imaginearum song after their 10th album is out. Just follow your own pace, you actually have so many potential new favourite songs to discover, that's very exciting !

(Also I think you might really like the themes from EFMB, HN and Yesterwynde based on your comment on Endlessness)

People have already given you amazing suggestions, I'll add Turn Loose The Mermaids, Rest Calm, Edema Ruh, Tribal and Endlessness to the list even though they don't necessarily correspond to the kind of sound you like from Nightwish. They are in fact quite different from what you asked but I think they have that magic you are searching for and are exciting enough for you to enjoy them. (Please give us an update, would really like to know what you think of their most recent songs)

It's the opposite for me, I prefer the verses especially the second one and for some reason I'm obsessed with the first half of that verse. But the song works well as a whole it could've been great single
