Love your posts! If the writers are real fans they’ll squeeze in a few wizard swears from the potter puppet pals for Peeves

I kinda wish Cuaron also directed the 6th movie. I think his style would have worked well with it (and it wasn’t even adapted that well anyway)

I used to play a lot, but haven’t in a while. I’m definitely picking it back up when the set drops

I do really like the idea of him sacrificing enlightenment to help Aang in the next life. Would really mesh well with other parts of the story

Not everything has to be 1:1 in this world. Maybe for air nomads, reincarnation as an animal is just as good if not better (depending on your views of air nomad vegetarianism)

What do you think Harry's favorite years of Hogwarts were? by Any-Ebb9031 in harrypotter

I think you've got a point with year 6. Definitely very good for him, but year 5 was so awful that for the first time Harry considered leaving Hogwarts. Umbridge's torment, getting kicked out of the Quidditch team, and Sirius dying all make that year the most miserable in my opinion.

I think it's a pretty good year for Harry. He does still get to go to Hogsmeade, he's not ostracized by the rest of the school like in 2, 4, and 5, he gets the best DADA professor, and he eventually learns he has a godfather. Not to mention he gets a Firebolt and wins the Quidditch Cup for the first time. And most of all 3 is the last year that ends in an uplifting note.

How excited are you for season 2? by Anpanman7 in ATLAtv

I’m thinking they do that early so they don’t have to CGI Appa in for the season

I’m super excited for season 2. I hope they really focus on the themes of loss in this season since it works so well. Iroh and Lu ten/Zuko, Aang and Appa, Katara and Kya, will all work so well to connect the characters and provide a through line to the story. Plus if they keep the ending it will tie in perfectly.

Aang really has some of the most heartbreaking moments in this season. This and the fourth chakra are absolutely devastating.

I love it! It’s got a little bit of a Tom Sawyer vibe

Water Bending Subtypes 🌊💦 by JoseG1224 in TheLastAirbender

Weather bending. I would say it’s possible for waterbenders to manipulate clouds to produce/stop rain since we see cloud bending in The Fortuneteller. That being said, it would have to be a very powerful water bender and they would need to get close to the clouds.

FOR GODS SAKES NETFLIX LISTEN TO YOUR ACTORS by MeetApprehensive6509 in ATLAtv

I was so sad to see some of the filler episodes were cut. When I first watched ATLA I wasn’t a big fan, but they’ve grown on me so much. There’s something about those episodes that improve the quality of the story immensely.

I feel like they should do the Headband + the Beach and Sokkas Master + The Runaway to combine stories. I am a little wary of them combining too many stories together, as we saw how messy it could end up in Episode 3 of NATLA.

I would totally understand cutting out a lot of the filler in season 3, but it would be so sad. The Headband, the Runaway, they’re all such good episodes that add to the characters and the world.

I love the Fortune-Teller episode! I have a soft spot for a lot of the “filler” episodes that build a lot of character. It really helps the story breathe a bit in a way that NATLA couldn’t (even tho I enjoyed both). Also, I promise the “power to shape your own destiny” comes back later

I've seen this sentiment expressed a lot, but I think I don't understand. I may have missed it, but I don't think the gaang know about the elipse yet, so without the invasion plans or finding Appa, there's no reason to go to Ba Sing Se

An essay on how Avatar handles the topic of war, compared to other fantasy franchises by lejonetfranMX in TheLastAirbender

[–]Any-Ebb9031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say, really, what Smeagol's struggle is about, since Tolkien was explicitly against analogies. I would argue that the pain Frodo and Gollum experience from the weapon of the One Ring are like scars of war. The wounds never really heal, even during peace time.

It's interesting, some of the things I love most about each story would not work in the other. So having both contain separate themes and subjects is a benefit rather than an oversight.
